that's due to a flapper problem that sometimes comes up on our cars (happened to me). there's a bulletin out on it and the dealer should fix it without any questions asked.

It happened to me few times, but then other times it fills up to the top. I guess I will mention it during my next oil change at the dealer. I try to fill up whenever the needle goes below 1/4 of the tank.

Filled up when the light came on and got 16 gal in, so about 4 gal left in the tank. 4 gal x 18 miles I could have maybe gone an extra 70 miles.

So has anyone ever run out of gas in their G? And if so, where was your gas gauge? How far below E did it go? I heard someone mention theirs went almost an 1/8th inch below E!

Seriously! That's more annoying to read than if it was in all caps! Jeez ...

Um actually, my light came on, I drove for 20 miles to get to the gas station, and I only got 14.6 gallons in, and thats AFTER I topped it off a bunch. I had some gas come out onto the rubber lining, so i wiped it up, got in the car, and the guage only read right below F. I might have a problem with the tank, not sure.

Another reason to not go too low with the gas is that the fuel pump uses the gas to keep itself cool. When you run the tank down that low everything in the tank is being pulled to it by the pump, the filters, or screens can only get so much of the junk, and if you do have alot of the junk in your tank the chance of the fuel pump failing is that much greater. I have a Ford Excursion and let the tank get really low and the pump went out on me. Almost 500.00 bucks later i have a new pump, could have saved that money for something else, like topping off the Excursion!! .

Point is be careful running your tank low for any lengthy period of time.

Thanks I was just about to point that out. I was told many years ago that if you run your tank really low it puts more stress on the fuel pump.
