Are most of you all getting the COPPER Iso Thermal or just the normal ISO Thermal... pros over one or the other?

I've ordered the copper iso, i live in NY, so I'm just playing it safe. I also like the stealth factor.

The Copper heating plate is literally a "set it and forget it" way of heating up the Throttle Body in cold weather. Once the copper heating plate is installed . . . You never have to give it a second thought. The Coolant Control Valve, which comes with the normal Iso Thermal, is just that. It's control valve, which is normally set to the "close" position and set to the "open" position during cold weather. The valve is easily set with a long flathead screwdriver.

Wow - this thread really pulled the jackasses out of the woodwork. Normally, I wouldn't feel like playing... but I'm bored.

First of all, it's "you're"... you idiot. Second of all, we're talking AT MAX, 20 hp peak. My point was not to belittle the mod... it shows proven gains... but don't expect a huge difference in feel... even at peak you're talking about less than 10% additional power, and really around 5%. Good bang for the buck, no doubt. But comments like "this guy is afraid to floor it on the highway..." gimme a break. I get tired of those hyperboles. It's only a little more power. Third of all, for somebody so passionate about plenums and such, at least spell "Kinetix" correctly in your sig. Idiot. Ok, enough of you.

Some people like manual trannies, some like autos. No big deal - whatever works. But a traditional auto (torque converter) will not be faster than a manual tranny, all other things being equal. There is just too much power loss - it's less efficient. Just the way it is...

And before somebody brings up purpose-built drag trannies - they are used in situations where there is power to spare. And DSG or F1 style trannies in Audis and Ferraris and such... those don't use a torque converter. They use clutches that are electronically/hydraulically activated. They CAN be faster...

So... then I assume by "gears" you mean a new rear end ratio for the differential? If so, you're changing the gear ratio of the drivetrain, trying to make up for the power loss of the auto because it STILL HAS A TORQUE CONVERTER WHICH ROBS POWER FROM THE DRIVETRAIN. Put those new 3.9gears in the auto, sure it will be fast. Put them in the manual, and the manual will be faster again. Put a turbo kit in an auto, sure it will be faster, put it in the manual...

Not fully true. It will be as fast as a 6mt. But a good driver behind a manual will always be better.

1) This mod does not gain PEAK hp. It gains up to 20 hp and tq in the mid-range. It is a much greater gain than a mod would give on just PEAK power. It is in a more usuable area of the power band. So you definitely feel the difference and its pretty remarkable how much of a difference it makes the car behave. I autox, and this has drastically helped my times, but it also has drastically killed my tires.

And lets not start calling people names. We don't need that here. FYI, you obviously do not have this mod. So please do not make comments you can't back up for yourself when you have yet to drive a car with this mod.

That's why i take back what I wrote in the beginning, this mod is great and wouldn't change anything if i had to do it all over again. I guess you really have to drive it to see the difference.

Jeezus. All right, let's go through this again. First and foremost, I am not bashing the mod. I clearly stated that it is a known fact that it makes good power. I never said it didn't.

To clarify, by "peak" I meant the peak gains... not at the peak point of the original powerband. I never said that, either.

And where it DOES make power... it is about 10% of the curve at those points. Around 4500 rpm (the peak gain point for this mod), it's making about 10% of the height of the curve, hp OR torque. And then really about 5% on either side of that narrow region (4200-4700 rpm).

No, I don't have it. But by the dyno plots, I can tell if it's gonna "blow my socks off" or if all the sudden "I'll be afraid to punch it on the highway due to the mad powa...".

All I'm saying, is that it's ridiculous to act like certain mods are going to make the car into a beast. This mod adds good power to the mid-range, yes. No doubt. Where most people drive most of the time. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Good, solid, modest gains.

But, again... I get tired of the exagerrations... not just for this but all over the board. Which can make people expect magic from this mod, and then be dissappointed when their hopes aren't met. That's all I'm saying. Be realistic, people.

LOL! They are not exagerrations. Everyone is being realistic. You aren't. Buy the mod. Do your own report on it. Until then, please stop bad mouthing others or the mod.
