Gas tank empty but shows 1/4 full
Gas tank empty but shows 1/4 full
Anyone had this and how know what the dealer has to do to fix it. I brought my 04 AT with perf pack in to have the shutter valve fixed (a known TSB - I was having problems filling the tank), and since then I've run out of gas twice when the tank still shows 1/4 full. I've brought it in twice to fix it and still doesn't work. I have another appointment this week and want to be sure I know what the dealer has to do to fix it. Thanks!
Dealership said it's not the shutter valve or the sending unit - they are now going to change the entire gauge cluster ! Does this make sense?

G/L with this fix.
C.
Dealership changed the gauge cluster but it still shows 1/4 full when it's actually empty. Have another appointment next week. Any ideas? This is all started when they changed the shutter valve (TSB) so what could they have done to mess up the gauge?
i got my entire gas tank replaced once... and both sending units replaced twice... still defective.............

Hey GRider, what year is your G? Is it still under warranty? I'm not giving up on this - I spoke to the service manager and he said he's going to look into the problem. Hey, maybe they'll give me a new 2006 if they can't fix it! NOT!
After reading these posts I am worried.
05 coupe AT 12000 miles. Guage will only go to about 7/8ths fill . I have tried to fill it up twice and this is as far as it goes.
Kings Infiniti in BKLYN says they have never heard of such a problem.
I asked if they ever heard of "TSB"

I have had both problems. I ran out of gas on the freeway a couple of days ago with my gauge showing more than quarter tank. I'll be taking my 04 in on Monday. I'm assuming that they'll replace the gauge cluster if that's the problem.
Went back to the dealer it appears they found the problem (after 5 visits!).
While they were changing out the shutter valve (known TSB), they dislocated the sending unit which caused false readings. They then replaced the sending unit, but didn't realize it was not in the right location (apparently it was obstructed - too close to a shield). They then changed out the gauge cluster for no reason. Seems to be OK now. I filled up and let it run down - it finally went below 1/4. I did notice that the gauge didn't go all the way to full (it went a little more than 7/8th) even though it clicked twice while filling. I'll check the mileage to see if it was full or not. > sigh <

My does the same thing. I haven't asked the dealer though. I have an 30K appt. Next month, I will ask then.
