03-04 clutch, 05 clutch

I drive a 05 G35 6mt, and yesterday i drove a friends 03 6mt. His clutch was really heavy, while mine is really light. Did the 03's have a differnt clutch or something? Also, his throws felt alot shorter. Both cars are stock. Thanks

Yeah, my brother's '04 6MT clutch set-up feels better to me, as well. The clutch pedal pressure is heavier and the engagement point is much lower . . . Oh well, I have adapted to my '05.

From a quick look at the OEM clutch parts on infiniti-parts.com, I can see that the clutch disk, pressure plate and slave cylinder are different between 03/04 and 05. I've been happy with the clutch in my 03, not too heavy, not too light, good feedback on engagement. I wasn't thrilled with my friends 2005 as it didn't have much feedback on when the clutch was engaging. I didn't drive it every day though, so maybe over time I'd appreciate it more.

05's have a DMF system, dual-mass flywheel... not sure about the 03-04's...

I can't stand the clutch in my 06, coming from a mr2 is tricky business, and I sadly almost kill it everytime I drive.
Anyone know of aftermarket that will greatly stiffen the clutch for the 06?

The clutch was changed for the 05 models for easier shifting effort

Isnt the 05 clutch supposed to be able to handle a little bit more power as well? Not sure where I heard that, just wondering?

speaking on clutches, does anyone else with an '04 6mt feel alot of rattle in their's? i just bought the car and it has 20500 miles on it. mint condition, notthing wrong with it....except for that. I can even feel the rattle in the shifter and low rpms. What gives? is my sh*t dying?

that issue aside, i LOVE this car. very PIMP! glad to be a new G owner.

03 Sedan clutch

I own an 03 6sp mt sedan with 46,500 mi on it. The clutch does not rattle at all, and as expected it requires more effort than other to operate. (U get used to it and love it) The engagement point is rather high so sometimes its tricky to start from a full stop in steep hills. Love heel and toeing this beast, it's so much fun!

I have an 04 6spd 25k, and my clutch rattles like a moth@f*cker....I heard its normal....the dealer by where i live is the worst dealer i have ever dealt with, so i dont know how accurate that answer is.....I hade a rattle after 10k, however i drive the car hard...

My tranny rattles as well, and it vibrates pretty good in the shifter... dunno if its normal but I think it is.

I have an '05, and thought the clutch wasn't up to par. When I went in for the 15k service I had them look at it. The dealer told me that the chatter was normal... When I got the car back though, it was noticibly smoother and the engagement point seemed to be more gradual. I've driven it about 1200 miles since then, and I'm noticing that it's slowly reverting to the way it was before.

My previous car also had a manual transmission and I drove it for 12 years and 155k miles without ever replacing the clutch. So I'm guessing my driving isn't the problem.

Does anyone know what they might have done to tune up the clutch that would allow it to gradually lose it's precision again?
