G35 Worth it?
G35 Worth it?
I currently drive an Audi and am looking into the G35 6spd, and the new Audi S4, or the BMW 330 ZHP. I've driven the G35 and liked the power, handling etc. but wasn't so pleased with the interior quality (I am used to German interiores). What I mean by interior quality is not that it was bad workmanship, but it looked slightly cheap with so much plastic etc. What type of performance increases can a G35 gain from a full exhaust (are they available?) and an Intake system. What would you guys pick between the 3 cars (please no bias) and what is insurance like for a G35 is it considered a Sports coupe? Sports car? Etc.. Please no flames about this post, as I am really looking into the G35 as my next car.
Thanks
Thanks

If you don't care about the money, I would get the S4. I love my G, but the new S4 is an awesome car.

Assuming money is no object - S4 is definitely my first choice. Then G, then 330 in my opinion. I think the G blows away everything in its class, but the S4 is in another class altogether.
However if you're stretching yourself to get the S4, I think the G is the clear winner - its hard plastics are about my only major complaint with it, and once you drive the car, you get over that in a hurry.
An exhaust + intake mod you can realistically expect between 15 and 30 HP gain depending on which ones you install. Supposedly the upcoming Injen exhaust nets 20 to the wheels and with intake probably ~30.

Re: G35 Worth it?
I would buy in this order: new S4, G35 Coupe, 330i PP. The S4 is killer...344hp V8 that loves to rev, matched to Audi's legendary Quattro AWD, you just can't beat that. I just got my G35 Coupe 6MT a few days ago, and I can say it's absolutely amazing. I cannot believe how sporty the car is. In my opinion, the G35 Coupe is significantly faster than any 330 BMW I have ever driven. The handling is extremely taut and works very well with the linear steering. Obviously, the Brembo brakes are impressively powerful...I only have to tap the brake pedal to get the car to stop from whatever speed. I love my G35C !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The BMW 330 is nice, as well, and of the three vehicles, it probably has the best driver-vehicle communication. But it is the slowest of the bunch, and the body is aging (whereas the new S4 and the G35C are new and cool). What do you expect us to say? We bought our G35 Coupes for a reason, so we're going to defend our purchase to the end. =)

Hmmm...I wonder how the g35 with a supercharger would compare with the new S4...

Re: G35 Worth it?
Love my G so much. But.... Definately the S4 if money is no object. That thing is a beast. I love the new look of the A4/S4 family. To me Beemers are a standard but are just so blah both in performance and looks. Also another thing to consider especially if you live in Cali like me. Pretty soon (or already in the case of the 330) everyone will have one. If I pull all the change out of my pocket and throw it in the air, I'm sure at least one coin would fall on some type of Audi or Beemer. Even after almost a year of being out I still maybe see one G a day maybe a couple while driving in LA. I love the fact that the car is not every where. Just some thoughts, Peace. Someone at work got the new S4, and picking it up this weekend. I should be able to get a ride next week, but I am sure that thing is a beast. I wouldn't get the old S4 over the G coupe, but the new one, definitely.

A good friend of mine is a Porsche-Audi-Infiniti dealer. (He, in fact, sold me my G.)
He says that the Audis' quality still doesn't compare to the Infinitis'. In his experience, Audis come back to the shop constantly with little quality issues, things breaking and falling off all the time. He says he won't recommend them to friends, FWIW.

Re: G35 Worth it?
When I bought my G I was looking at the M3 and the S4. The S4 is not in showrooms yet (or at least 4 weeks ago when I bought the G).
Money was a factor but not a big one. I could have bought any of my choices but when it came to value (my monthly payment + insurance is less than just the monthly payment for the M or the S and you get the same goodies) and looks the G has them beat.
There are too many beemers and Audis out there. The G is more unique. Either way you can't go wrong, you'll get a killer ride anyway. But if you choose the S4 DO NOT keep it for more than 5 years. Keep in mind Audi's reliability.
That's my 2 cents
Take home message: Raw power isn't everything and if it is just add the supercharger.
Expect the unexpected when you least expect it.
