Clutch & Flywheel - Question- R They Kidding?

My clutch went bad at 19k on a 04. When I change gear the RPM goes up but the car takes a lot of time to respond...so the car still moves which means the clutch is not gone completely.

Go to the dealer he says that I will probably need a clutch and very possibly a flywheel if it is cracked and it will cost $2,100!!!!!!He said he knows is the clutch but they can't be sure if the flywheel is good or but till they open everything up....
I feel that first they r very expensive and second they will do the flywheel anyway regardless of its condition.
My questions here are:

Can u tell with a quick look if the flywheel needs replacement? and is it usual that when a clutch goes bad the flywheel goes bad too?

Is the price right? He said $1,100 if only clutch and $2,100 if the flywhell needs replacement too.what would be a reasonable cost for these parts and labor?

Are there any repair shops in Fairfield county CT that u know?

Any other input would be appreciated....

are they replacing the flywheel with a lightened one... because a stock flywheel does not cost 1000 bucks... and a stock flywheel does not just crack either

I have a perfect used flywheel and clutch with 15k on it. 300.00 for both.

you should be able to find a mostly reliable local tuner or repair shop that'll put in a performance clutch+flywheel for half that.

Any idea why the clutch went out already? Did you beat the crap out of it, or maybe it's a warranty thing? When you get the thing opened up, they should be able to easily tell whether it's been abused (burnt up clutch) or simply defective. But in any case, by the time you paid to have it opened up, it's almost stupid not to put in the a new clutch and fly while you're at it.

But if you're sure you haven't "abused" the tranny, then they should replace it under warranty.

forget that.. go aftermarket clutch and flywheel and go to a shop to have the install done.. I would not pay anything over $600.00 for install.

also how did you burn you clutch so fast? i don't know if warranty has anything to do with wear items like clutch and flywheel but at 20k miles i would think they should cover that?
