ok call me a dork but I know lots of you do the same.. I went out tonight lerking looking for some nice old fashion fun.. Then I found it a Blue G35c.. We were messing a lil then we got on to the highway.. Then it happened I saw that the highway was wide open!! I was right behind him doing about 70 Mph so i shifted to 5th and switched lanes when he saw that he took off so I quickly shifted to 4th and nailed it. he was pulling while I was shifting but then neither of us where pulling for about half a second then I pulled on him soooo hard but he was still going he never let off ( had all my windows / sunroof open) by the time I hit 115 Mph I was 1 1/2 cars in front of him WOW!! I need to dyno this car i must have goten a strong 1.. Ohh yea I only have a grounding kit nothing else. (cant make up my mind on what ones to get hehe) Then on my way home this BMW was riding my arss and at a light he was behind me reving his engine and so was I at this point it turned green I went and but stoped for a split second for him to catch up(since he was behind me) when he started getting close I nailed it again and pulled very very hard on him after all said and done was about 6-7 cars in front of him.. then at the next like he pulled next to me and reved his engine pealed out and made a right.. What an arss..

I had a 540 6-speed. Based on your story it doesn't appear he was ever in front of you in order for you to determine it was a 540. I've also owned a 528, which is what sounds like you kicked. A 540, especially a 6-speed, has 320+ torque, and 290HP, and a very low gear ratio, so it pulls very hard.

How do you know it was a 540? Rims aren't always the best indication.

 

I have a 540 and a G35C. I agree with 2BG. How do you know it was a 540? There is no question the G will dust a 525/528/530; but a 540 should be a very close race. As an owner of both I wouldn't take any bets on that race. But it's great that a G can hang with V8's (that's one reason it bought the G).

 

It was a 540i and I know this cause as I said when I got to the next light he pulled next to me looked over and peeled out while making a right so while he was making a right his back was turned to me and I was able to tell what 1 it realy was.. Maybe he wasnt being all that he can be and miss represented the BMW people.. I thought performance in the 2 cars was kinda equal?? Anyways what do you think about the G35 story? I am still shocked he he.. My car is a FREAK!!

 

Actually the fastest time I've seen for a 540i 6MT was in C&D '98 magazine and it did 0-60 in 5.5s.

No.. I didnt pay much attention to that umm the fist say 200 miles I was real slow with it since it was the first time driving it. But then I got a lil faster and faster with it about 600 miles I was hitting red line.. I did make sure I got a good run on it be for my oil change.. Hit about 110 and at 1400 Miles I got a oil change with Mobil 1.. I was told from Infiniti (Friend) that the motors are already broken in before the go into the car in Japan. So this is why I didnt realy baby it I just didnt run it all the time..
