Even Porsches with their engines in the back have dialed in understeer into their 911s. They use to be notorious oversteering cars. When cars understeer evryone will instinctively take the appropriate action, which is to let off the gas pedal and the car corrects. Now if you take the same action in an oversteering car, you'll actually increase the oversteer. Of course almost all new cars are equipped with stability systems which will help the car remain on course.

Weight distribution front to back in a moving car is dynamic. You actually affect the distribution when you accelerate or hit the brake. In an oversteering car you want more of the weight of the car to be over the rear wheels. So the appropriate action is acceleration and not braking.
