Grinding noise 6th or 7th time already - HELP

I have had the car since october 05 and I know how there is an ABS check after u start the car and drive above 10mph. But for the past month, the sound has sometimes changed from the sound of something being reeled in to a mean grinding sound. It doesn't sound like a gear grind but something lighter. Sounds exactly like scraping your body kit when going through a speed bump except a little metallic i guess.

It only happens after starting the car and taking off(when it happens I do not hear the ABS "reeling sound" I hear that mean grind instead)

What could be wrong?? (note: this happened around the same time i started having weird "worn spring" noises and occasional "prickling" sensations in the clutch pedal.)

It doesn't happen often enough, probably once a few days so I'm not able to replicate the sound. I'd appreciate it if anyone who has any theories / experience with this could help me out.

hey I get that too... I think... if it's how your describing, I really notice it in the morning when I reverse out of my parking.

sounds like sort of a ringing light grind noise... I haven't really thought much of it.

Thanks.

no no no.........it is your breaking / vdc system checking itself. It does a self diagnmostic check real quick and it only does it when you first start and then go no faster than about 10 miles per hour for the ferst few seconds. I can get my car to do it whenever I want. It is normal. It is sorta a quick clicking sound for about 2-3 secs.

SESEGAL99 are you sure its the VDC system...ive told the dealer about 3 times about the noise, i got my aligment, change the brakes, and all the fluids and still got that darn noise...it just seems odd that the VDC system would make that noise and there woulnt not be any notice in the manual advicing of it you know...i dont know... i documented the three times i asked the dealer anything breaks because of that noise or whatever they need to fix it free of charge...

What I don't understand is why some mornings when I start the silver bullet there is that terrible grinding sound, other mornings it is not as loud, and still other mornings there is no sound at all after start up. I always get another grind as I get going but I think that is the ABS check.

exactly, there is the usual grinding noise(soft) which is the ABS check and the terrible grinding noise(like sounds scraping your body kit) which is the problem I believe we're all referring to.
