This has got to be one of the funnier posts, useless, but funny! This falls into the category of the guy who posted a picture of a ferret (or some type of rodent) tied, and looks like it is in a ballerina pose. That was funny too!

Whatever you do, DONT put a cover on. My parents have Harleys that they love more than me, and they keep them in our garage under a cover, or at least they used to. The Cats love to jump up and nap on the comfy leather seats, and a cover doenst stop them at all. what it does do however, is prevent their relatively harmless jump. Instead, they claw their way under the cover and up the side of the bike, leaving nice deep claw marks in the clearcoat all the way up. Now they leave them uncovered. The occasional paw print is better than five lines of scratches... per foot.

Besides squirting the cat with a spray bottle every time you see it on the hood, you could try going to a hunting shop, getting some badger or fox scent and applying it to the top of a thick towel and laying it on the hood.
Cats do not like if if they think they are going to be dinner.

A paintball gun filled with water ***** would be more fun though. "Aim high, shoot low."

you guys are very violent... killing doesn't exist in my dictionary.

I say, just install a camera, and get the owner of the cat to pay if it scratches your car

The scents and the scat-mat are good, non-lethal ideas. Otherwise, radiator fluid (coolant) stops those paws from climbing (ever again). I'd prefer non-lethal and avoiding a pet-death for the owners...

...but I'd also prefer my car not to get scratched up as well.

i had the same exact problem!! and it was PISSING me off... i just ended up throwing pepper into the cats face, because it was very easy to just call it over, then i would throw the pepper in its face n chase it out of my yard...
took about a week of scares to make that stupid cat stay away (sometimes i even tried using my slingshot but my aim sucks and i just scared it even more)

try an ammonia spray bottle. my dad used to do spray ammonia around the edge of our property to prevent dogs and cats from coming on our property and using it as their bathroom. it worked well.

WOW..... you guys are mean....
I hate dogs around my neighborhood that chase my car, but I don't go around killing them
Just use non lethal, non damaging forms of deterrent, it'll solve the cat problem, and keep the neighbors from plotting ways to murder you.

Do you know who the owner is? If so, tell them to tend to their cat, or you will (with a shotgun)! If you don't know who the owner is, catch it and take it about 20 miles away and drop it off. It'll find a new home.

Cats sit or sleep on cars because its warm. You can see cats are on or under the engine bay. Put a car cover or something over the hood so that the cat can't feel the heat.
Do not hurt or scare the cat away. Hurting animals are wrong!!! by law.
The bottle idea might work. Try to put something on your car that will cool it off. good luck.
