I don't think redlining once in a while will do anything to your car. Look at all the weekend racers. I've experience racing my civic on the weekends at the tracks and I'd redline everytime before shifting. Around 5 runs within 4 hrs. Nothing happend, This is my daily driver and everything was fine.
I'm not sure if Nissan motors are better for this kind of abuse than a Honda motor, so I could be wrong. But once in awhile..., that's why you bought the G. To feel the joy of going fast.

ur car has an electronic rev limiter.. hitting it doesnt do anything.. ur fine its there to "prevent" something from going wrong. ALot of people bounce off them everyday.. nothing happens, but revving ur motor that high period.. especially under load will "shorten" the life of the engine, but im pretty sure you wont even have that car long enuf to ever kno a difference.

Back to my story, I didn’t plan to redline. Accidentally shifted to neutral and hit the gas and I looked at the meter. WOW. It hit to 7k RPM. I was expecting some burning smell may come, but nothing happen anyway. I am not sure I will do it again. Be honest with you, I do like the sound when it redlined.

I redline my car 70% of my driving... I guess i'm just used to shifting at 8K RPM with my Integra. I love my G but i'm not sure if it can take that abuse, and if i'll end up shifting below 3K I rather shoot my self or take the bus.
Damn!!! 1.5 years without hitting redline I agree with the other post, maybe you should buy a 4 cyl. coz you don't need that much power when you're driving.

Well I guess a G35 must be a first car for some of you. You guys are acting like you've never driven a car hard in your life. I used to rev to 8000 rpm on a daily basis is my 99 supercharged Si, and it begged for more. I reach 7000 rpm in my G on a regular basis. Why buy a G35 6MT if you're going to drive it like a Caravan?

Once I was in Infiniti for sevice, a service tech guy told me I should drive the s**** out of my G. He told me to drive hard on it. It built for this kind of drive. I think I never take into it. Well, I know what to do tonight!!!
