How many 6MT Coupes Sold??
Anyone know the approximate number of 6MT Coupes sold so far??
i saw this figure posted a few weeks ago, but can't seem to find it now.

Nissan doesn't release the breakdown of 6-sp vs. manual models, but they do give the production #'s for coupes on a monthly basis. For 2002, they sold 5,185 coupes. As of the end of July, they sold 16,242 Coupes this year. Approximately 30% of the coupe production are 6-sp's.

These production numbers are from Infiniti USA and are from start of production through mid July 2003.

thanks puff, thats the numbers i was looking for..... now if we could just figure out how many people have had thier 6mt transmission replaced!

These numbers show 6MT coupe production at around 40%, not the 10-15% as previously estimated. That would seem to be an unusually high manual tranny percentage compared to other competitive cars (BMW 3 series etc.).

umm... it's not 40% i think u made mistake... you divided manual/auto... but actually u r suppose to divide manual/total which about 28%... so roughly 30% is correct

Actually, I don't know how you used the calculator; but it calculates to only 28%(5,392/18,974) of the production is 6MTs. BTW afr0puff, where did you get the #'s? On Infinitinews and Nissan Corporate, they only list the general sales info in the press releases. I've been looking for these numbers for a while. BMW normally has a high manual percentage on 3 series(especially the value oriented 323is), so its probably not the example to use. Better examples would have been the Mercedes C-Class(I went to look at a C320 Coupe 6-sp and the salesman actually laughed), Audi A4s and believe it or not: Corvettes. Even though all Z06s are manuals, if you include them in the production totals with coupes and convertibles; autos still easily outnumber them. Its amazing how easily a slushbox changes a sports car into a touring car.

Oops! You're right. I saw about 40% as many 6MTs as autos, but that's not a particularly meaningful stat. 28% of total coupe production for the 6MT is the right way to look at it. That's still about twice the 10-15% we had been told about earlier on though.
