No I tend to remember because driving anything else is so clearly not the G. IntelliKey is the coolest thing since sliced bread. I'll never be able to drive another car without it. Actually I think it might be cooler than sliced bread.

I keep the key to my van on the Intellikey, so I pick up both no matter what.

On the new Lexus IS its a PUSH-Button. I wonder if thats easier then our intellligent key.

I also have an 06' coupe with intelli-key. Never press the brake and I never have to wait a second to turn the key... most of the times the keys are in my jacket or pants pocket and I just turn the ignition and the car it instantly turns on.. no waiting or pause... my Key light goes form red to green on the dash in that short time.. maybe check your key battery.

Oh yeah.. the whole point of this thread. I have a truck I still keep around that does not even have power locks.. My brain still seems to remind me to remove the key... but damn who wants to drive a nasty ranger when they have a G35 haha.. my poor truck never gets driven anymore. Im still trying to figure out why I am keeping it at all.

It's basically a larger Keyfob with lock, unlock, trunk and panic buttons. The key is inside and you can slide it out if you need it. The fob emits a low power transmission that, when picked up by the car, will let you open the doors by pushing the little button on the door handles. It will let you open the trunk by pushing the button near the trunk. It will also let you open your gas filler and lastly, it lets you just turn the ignition and start your car. The ignition switch actually has a spring loaded coved over the keyhole to keep it closed when a key is not inserted. So you basically never have to use your key or fob until you get out and want to arm the alarm.

The sensors on the car for the keyfob are proximity. Meaning they will only pick up the fob when close to the handles, ignition, gas lid.. etc etc.. The alarm arm/disarm portion, of course works like normal and at normal ranges.

Oh yeah, The driver seat has two memory positions. You get two intellikey fobs. You can program each fob for a different person so that when say your wife goes to get in it will pick up her sensor and move the seats and stearing column to her positions.. same for you when you get back in.

Here is something I never tried though.. What if you both have the keys on you.. what will the seats and steering column do? I am guessing it will pick up both and not move from its current postiton. Which means that you just press the button on the seat. OR.. it could move to whatever fob disarmed the car. I have this featiure but I never tested it cuz no one but ME drives my G35... My G35 was a present to myself for successfully getting a divorce! haha Boy was she pissed! Score x 2

Hope that all made sense. Personally, I love it.

oh, come on...lexus would never be that stupid. if manufacturers are getting hammered for recalls, Lexus would have been all over the news by now about how people break the glass of an IS and hop in, and push a button and drive away. obviously, its not that easy.

with the lexus, when you approach the car, the car recognizes that the key fob is close to the car, thus it recognizes that you are nearby. the doors can be set to unlock in your presence. then you get in, and just hit the button and drive. you dont need to reach for the keys from your pocket ever. once you exit the vehicle, the car notices that the fob is out of range and locks the doors.

guys - intelligent key is based on bluetooth (bluetooth is a short range wireless technology based on RF) - it's also what is used for the new hands free system in the 06. BT also has internal security functions built in but i'm sure the the car manufacturers added some additional security on top of that.

however, i will give a slightly different scenario - what if you park your car in your home's driveway, and you usually leave the key VERY close to the car (e.g. on a key rack just inside the house door), and the BT is still in range?? the doors would have never locked, and someone actually could start the car by pressing the start button if they got into the car... no?

I don't think it works on bluetooth because intelligent key was available with the sedan when bluetooh wasn't yet offered.

? - not sure what you mean by "bluetooth wasn't yet offered" - you mean the handsfree feature? if so, bluetooth has been aroudn for almost 10 years now and other manufacturers like lexus also offered bluetooth intelligent keys before they offered bluetooth hands free phone kits...
