Prob with my fuel guage

So last night I went to fill up my car. I was a little under a half a tank which is when I normally fill up. It costs the usual $20 bucks and some change and I topped it off once. I get in the car and the gas guage is sitting at the 3/4 mark, not even close to full. So even though I was 100% sure the tank was full a stopped at another station a few miles away and tried to put more gas, and it wouldnt take anymore. So today I have been driving around all day putting about 40 miles on the car and the gas guage has stayed in the same spot. I have read some issues with the gas tank but is this problem common? Thanks guys I really don't feel like bringing the car to the dealer just yet. This is the first time this has happened.

This sounds like a common problem. I recently had my sending unit replaced for this. There is a TSB out that says to replace the shutter valve in the gas tank (http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../ITB05-031.htm), but all I read here is that the dealers are replacing the sending units. I'm not sure why they don't perform what's in the TSB. Sounds like the sending unit may be an easier and faster fix...but also, probably temporary as others see the problem later on again even with the new sending unit.

I had the same problem, the gauge would not read full. the dealer replaced one of the floats or sending unit not sure. it did the trick but it still acts up every now and then.

I had that problem. TSB applied. Sorry, don't remember the title of it.
Take it to the dealer, but beware: make sure to bring the car with the least amount of gas. Too much gas, and Mr. Joe Mechanic will spill it all over the interior.
