Epoxied the Clear Corners In

In light of recent events, i picked up some DEVCON High Strength 2 part "plastic welder" expoy at walmart. 2 bucks.

Popped the clear corners off and epoxied them back on. Let me say this stuff is not for lightweights. That chemical reaction between the 2 parts is no joke. I closed the door to my garage due to the 90 degree heat outside. Big mistake, when i got done i was punchy from the fumes from this stuff.

Glopped it on the inside perimeter of the housing and all over the metal clips that hold them in place, popped those babys in and I don't think they will be coming back out.... not unless the bumper comes with em.

Couple tips for anyone else doing this: DONT get it on the visable paint around the clears, and mix and apply it FAST. Its gonna start to set up almost before you can get it mixed and put on.

What if you need to replace the bulbs?

hmmmm.. never thought of that..... just kidding!

i measured the area behind the bulb housing, there is ample room to pull the bulb/holder out from behind. Just have to remove or at least loosen the wheel well cover and reach around. Not too concerned about it, since i've got new PIAA's in there.

good idea.....i had some extra 3m paint protector film from my clear bra install and used it to cover-up the whole clear corners and adjacent fender/wheelwell. but i may go with your idea now.

I didn't know you were doing that today. I thought you were just thinking about it. So that's what you had to do that was more important than going to the races with me.

lol, well, actually, cleaning up my yard was more important... but since i was at walmart i figured i'd snag the epoxy.

"thinking about it"?
When an idea hits me, i move on it baby!

So what happened at the races?... hold on, NONE of the other jax g35 people went?!

Of course they didn't. There were so many people there the DOT shut down Pecan Park Rd at about 2 and stopped letting people exit 95. Traffic was so bad I got there too late to register to race.

I was thinking of doing this to my clears, but something came to mind. What if locking in the clear corners some how just made it worse on the G35 owner?

If the thief wants it that bad he might come around with a flat head screw driver and pry off the clear corners. This might cause a $50 dollar replacement to be a $300 repair.

Then again I just think too much .

Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking. These bastards wont give up once they've started. Whats in their pockets? hm, keys, knife, beer bottle openers? Oh, and 90% of the time if they get upset at the fact that they can't have them, they'll key/damage the car. All this over a pair of plastic lights. (I know they're expensive), but i'd rather let them take them than do any more damage to my car. Sounds like a gamble, I know. And a terrible way to look at things, but this is typical.

yes, the thought had crossed my mind..... but what are you gonna do? IF someone tried to get them and the damage was excessive... its gonna be an insurance claim. Sure if they want them bad enough they will get them, but i'm not gonna make it any easier.

The ability to pop them out in 2 seconds (literally) is just unacceptable to me.

Leaving your doors unlocked might keep a theif from breaking out your window or damaging your door.... but would you really consider leaving your car unlocked??
