Re: Will Removing Bose radio cause any problems

g35mt: sorry 'bout that, PCB = printed circuit board.

I was just saying that the connector is a common part, so you should be away to just throw away the old connector and connect a new one to your new PCB that has only the AC controls on it. It does look like you'd have to cut the face plate tho below the AC controls to get rid of the radio controls.

So the problem with this is (a) reverse engineering the printed circuit board in order to make a new one with only AC controls looks like a real pain, and (b) they must already have a AC only board for the japanese cars, so why should I do it? (yeah, I'm lazy).

Anybody know if they sell the AC-only board + face plate in Japan? I have a friend going there soon, and I have relatives in Japan that might be able to hook me up.

you guys sure are going thru a lot of trouble, I just paid for the double din dash and AC controls to be imported from japan. $250 + S&H, just wait and once we get the details figured out, it will save you a lot of pain.

Chirowolf....If you cut out the bottom of the pocket an aftermarket unit will fit, but you will have to cut out/modify the main air duct that leads to the rear seat vents. It can be cut and sealed up but you will not have any air come through the rear ducts.

the whole cubby can come out...and just reinstall the lid, but if you leave the lid on? the screen wont go up enough to see it ..and then you need some thing to make the monitor to pop up...s.w.

p.s....there is no ducting directly behind the cubby hole...the ducting is behind the board...that you see in that pic...s.w.
