Noob here.Mod questions

Sup guys, I still haven't decided on what car I'm going to trade my Alti in for within the next month BUT I've narrowed it down to 2 choices:G35 c and Evo...Now, obviously the G35 will NOT outperform the Evo by any means, but It does have more comfort and appeal AND it betters my social appearance,(which is important to me business wise when I visit clients.) Now for my question...If I decide to purchase the G, I'd like it to atleast be considered somewhat fast so I thought of some mods to get for it right away. I wanted to go with a true dual exhaust (brand doesn't matter),z-tube,plenum, and a wet nitrous system,(75 shot). Is a 75 shot too much on the stock engine? Do I need to get some sort of reflash or something done to get this to run properly? And, how much whp does the stock G35 have so I can get an idea of my hp after such mods,(I would LIKE 300whp) Any help at all would be good.

Thanks,
Lewis

300whp has not yet been achieved with all motor. people have run 150shot on stock block but thats pushing it. you could run 75-100 "safely"
a new Gcoupe 6mt comes with 298 hp, auto comes with 280. it is a quick car, def not that fastest thing out there, but nice. with a true dual, plenum and nitrous it should be a very nice car...good luck.
Evo is NOT comfortable btw

well if it comes with atleast 250 whp a 75 shot of nitrous should bring it to just about 300 whp, maybe a little more...a plenum and exhaust should also add in atleast 15 whp so I was estimating about 340 hp with the nitrous. And what about my reflash question, lol?

I hear ya man, the EVO is definetly not a comfortable car, and if I do get it I'm pushing for the RS so I'm giving up EVERYTHING I'd get with the G and more lol.I do like all the luxuries provided with owning an Infiniti but I also have an eye for performance...So in essence, it's luxury vs performance...I'll probaby narrow it down to the cheapest one, I am leaning toward the G though this car is just too damn sexy! (too bad I CAN'T afford the new one)

Honestly speaking, if you are going to be entertaining clients, to me the G would be a better fit over an Evo.

May I ask your age? I'm 26 and feel like the G suits me better. Its a more 'mature' car to me. I get a ton of looks and love the balance of luxury and the ability to punch the gas when I want to. The Evo is more a younger car thats just built for performance.

Its hard to compare these two cars because they're on different ends of the spectrum to me. Both offer great value in cars. Good luck.

Sure you can ask. I'm 20 but I'm an avid mortgage broker and I prefer visiting my clients often over just communicating with them over the phone. But I guess my age speaks for itself I mean, I'm a part time student/part time hard worker but I LOVE performance! And in my opinion nothing out there can outperform an evo for the money. But then again the luxury, comfort, and appeal are three reasons to give the G a chance, that and the fact that the skyline has been my dream car since I was 11 and this is the only version of it I can afford, lol.

Yet? lol. Did you buy it because you felt it was time for something more mature, or do you have plans to make it a high performer like your MR?

I was thinking the nitrous for now...But maybe I'll just save up the 1200+ dollars I'd end up spending on a COMPLETE nitrous set up and go FI...I like that single turbo kit at turbokits.com, any thoughts on that?

Honestly... I bought the G because it is a nice car that was great to drive. Perfect mix of luxury on performance.

The main reasons I got rid of the Evo.
1. not very professional looking
2. voided my warrenty with a Buschur stage 1 kit and realized I would have over 100,00 before it was paid off, with no warranty
3. found myself not in control of the car, but the other way around... finally someone taunted me to race and I did. I am not a street racer, but found myself doing close to 150 on the highway... I knew I had to get rid of the car. Because I couldn't afford the track time, etc.
4. I would never be done... always putting money in the car trying to be faster than the next guy...

Many reasons.. but basically not the right time... and don't have enough money to drive the Evo the way it is meant to be.

If you want strict performance... go Evo... if you want luxury with looks and some performance, get the G. But dollar for dollar your mods will get MUCH better response from the Evo...

i would just like to point out the following:

i had my 2004 6mt coupe dynod on wednesday night before and after my mods were tacked on. The pre-mod run only netted about 224 at the wheels (please note the difference between WHP and crank HP for the purpose of what i am telling you.). After the mods were installed (AEM intake, APS Tallboy Plenum, Xerd Headers w/test pipes...already had Greddy Evo TT exhaust and HKS grounding kit) i still only hit 243.5 whp. This is of course without tuning the A/F.

So my point is this: please do not be disillusioned and think that you will get 300+ whp in the coupe without going forced induction. MAYBE with similar modifications listed above, a new ecu or piggyback, and some tuning, you can hit 280-290whp.

I understand that the Evo isn't the slickest, nicest looking car out there... and the G is pretty close to being the best looking... but don't start hating on the Evo... trying to compare the two is really tough.

The Evo is EXCELLENT at what is does... it is BY FAR the best in it's class at what it is trying to accomplish. Is it trying to be the prettiest or most luxurious? NO... it is meant to be a BAD A$$ race car... and it is... really bad!

The G is GOOD at what it is made for... but isn't the clear class leader... look at some BMW's, Lexus, Mercedes. They are all about the same. (That being said I have the G and love it).

Most people who haven't driven an Evo bash it because of the wing... or because it is ugly. It is purpose built, the wing in fact serves a BIG purpose over 110mph... which the Evo can hit EASILY and it is made to driven at those speeds. If you have driven an Evo... you can get past its looks... and realize that it is an amazing piece of machinery...

Sorry... I am just pretty sick of people bashing a car blindly... if you drive one you will in deed figure out that the Evo is more than fast enough to wipe the ugly right off it, while flying by Porsches and Ferraris on the race track.

I am done ... and this was not meant to offend anyone... I promise.

I'm not bashing the Evo, but yes I do think it is god awful ugly. And that wing doesn't look like it could possibly give any down force. I'm sure they could have made a functional wing that also looks good.
