Got rear ended in my 6MT a couple of weeks ago by a mid-sized 89 olds (ciera maybe?). Front end of the olds was totally trashed. Cosmetic damage only to the rear of the G- repair estimate about $600. Olds was doing estimated 30 mph (driver drunk) and hit me sitting at a red light. I saw it coming in my mirror and and put the clucth in and released the brake. Impact still hard enough to jam the CD. Cop commented what a well built car the G was!!!

 

Drunk drivers should be dragged out into the street and shot. EVERY time any car we've owned has been in an accident, it's been caused by a drunk driver. I have no sympathy for this crap. Don't get me started on US laws regarding drinking, too.

I'm glad your G held up in the crash, and more importantly, you did! It's always nice to hear someone compliment the G, too bad it had to be in this situation. Any idea how long you'll be G-free while they repair?

So I take it you weren’t hurt too bad? I had a similar thing happen in my old Civic (it was totaled though). My neck hurt for a while afterwards. Good to hear that both you and the G held up well!

oh, sorry about the accident man... drunk drivers do more damage than to cars... so it's fortunate that you didn't get killed.. the laws should be much harsher than they are... involuntary manslaughter? if you voluntarily drink... and that leads to you driving..and killing someone.. then i see that as voluntary manslaughter... u gotta beef up the laws and penalties, or else people won't change enough to stop their drunk driving...

I have one distinct memory from Drivers' Ed: A video tape of drunken driving accidents from the state of Indiana, set to Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight". I can't listen to that song anymore without picturing people (or parts of them) lying on the road. Sad, sad stuff.

Me too. I haven't even made my first payment or got my license plates and got rear ended. Minor damage ($1500) to the G coupe. The Izusu Trooper that hit me got it front end crush back to the front wheels. It was a 16 year old kid with his friends in the car. My CD changer jammed up also! Got the car fix last week now its off to Infiniti to fix the CD changer. Maybe I will get a new faster unit.
