Well.... I live in seattle.... so it rained today nothing special, when I look outside and think... man it would suck if I forgot to close my sunroof..... then I look at my car... god damnit.... I forgot to close my sunroof. So its all wet inside, not too bad from the looks of it, at the moment I have the heat on full blast tryin to dry it out.... so anyways, the key is in the ignition right now, and I have the remote... but the remote doesnt seem to work now... does it have to be near the key to work? I have the valet key so im not locked out at least. Any tips on what I should do? It seems the center console is all wet, what could possibly be damaged around that area and do u think the leather ****ed up? Thanks for your help.

 

I live up here in Bellingham, and I know what you mean. Haven't done that to the G, but have done it with other cars. Good luck on the dry out.

 

Just watch out for mold.

If it was really pouring and your carpet is wet, it's going to smell pretty bad unless you can dry it out. Leather should be fine if you dry it off and don't let it soak.

 

Make sure theres no mold.......you might want to have a detailer steam clean the interior if there is a smell...

 

try your heated seats... mine is not working that well anymore because I had some water get in there while it was raining. It wasnt a lot of water, but it hasnt been working that well since then. So i would check if your heated seats are still working

 

If you have waranty, take your seats back...

Do a search, there has been a few members that this has happened to.

I would just dry out the excess water with a towel and blow dry it..

 

This has happened to me twice when I had my previus 03 G, just dried it out and couldnt see/smell anything, I guess if you let the water sit there for a while it will do damage. I was worried about the leather getting all wavey and such but nothing, I guess its good quality stuff.

 

Well the seats seem dry but now my emergency brake light comes on when im driving... must be some water in there... any idea how hard it is to take off the center console and let it dry out? I think the heated seats dont work that well anymore, you are correct :0(

I had good luck with a shop-vac. The thin attachment sucked up water from unseen places. (Not in the G !!!)

Try removing as much stuff as you can around the shifter, then shop-vac it to heck. A small squirrel-cage fan moves a lot of air....you might want to direct one on your interior overnight in a heated area.

I'd recommend getting a couple of Damp Rid buckets to finish off the moisture and ward off mold. I used them in a former vehicle a few years ago, and they really do soak up a lot overnight (you just dump the water out as the Damp Rid container gets full). You should be able to pick some up for a few bucks in stores like Target and Home Depot.
