MrEllusive, you can put the engine cover on but it will rub against the hood and it will be tricky.
jmweidman, yes you can install the injen or stillen or any other cold air intake with it.

Re: ECU, CRAWFORD, OR HEADERS, WHICH SHOULD I GET?

Here's some cut and paste from posting that I've done across the net on the pleneum. The first bit will be of quote's from crawford pleneum owners from my350Z.com

Here are some quote's.

{Pdougrace zs}
"I have put about 100miles on the Crawford plenum since putting it on yesterday and the Butt Dyno tells me it's strong, but the BD can be deceiving. So time to G-Tech it and the results were not disappointing. At first though, I had to abort 3 runs in a row. I couldn't get the car to launch. It was night, about 70 degrees and I had 32psi in the rear S03's. The road I use is a farm road in the middle of nowhere so it's dirty. Wheelspin like crazy the first time, second time, launched at a lower RPM, still a lot of wheelsping and then a nice grind when shifting 1-2 (damn tranny), third run I hooked up a lot better, but still grinded.

OK, 4th time and I guess the tires were getting a bit sticky because I launched at 2500, but this time it seemed to hook up a lot better, but the wheels still struggled for traction all through first, I shifted a bit early trying to avoid the grind and it worked, but the 1-2 shift broke the tires loose pretty good. Didn't see the 0-60 flash just continued through the 1/4. Result:
13.45@111.9mph!!!">13.45@111.9mph!!!

It was less than a .1 sec reduction, but look at the 2.4mph increase, holy crap!!!!

Turned her around for my opposite run and I wanted to get done ASAP. Its farmland, but there are still some houses and someone might call the cops. The aborted runs took a few minutes of time. First run, broke traction again!! F***!!! But the 2nd run was pretty respectable:13.39@112.4mph!!

Picking up 3mph is freakin' huge!!! That proves (to me at least) that the Crawford delivers as promised. I can't wait to take it roadracing on Saturday. I also can't wait to get a new tranny.

I can honestly say I can't recommend this mod enough. It is by far the best bang for the buck mod on the market right now. I have nothing to do with Crawford at all so this is just my completely unbiased personal opinion."

{VandyZ}
"Both on Doug's and Chris (Evil350Z) Car it dynoed around 9 hp at peak and 20 hp at redline. Thats solid proof enough for me. If you ask me if you can feel a difference. . .YES! It is amazing how it changed the 4000+ RPM feel. It is almost like a cam the way it feels. I think the engine actually thanks you for the extra air every time you take it to redline. The sound is aggressive as well. I hope you will be just half as satisfied as me. Worth every penny."

{Daytona}
"Well, what was going on at high rpm was that the power curve was sloping down right around 6000-6200 RPM. What this translated to was a feeling that the engine was running out of steam, so to speak, just before fuel cut. You would have all this punch from 3000-5500 rpm but the revs & acceleration slowed just before the rev limiter. The plenum is changing all of that; not only was peak HP increased by 9 HP, and HP before fuel cut, around 6400-6500 RPM, was increased by 20HP! You can imagine what this has done for performance. The car revs powerfully right up to redline now. He could've charged $800 and this would've still been a good deal. Thanks, Doug"

{pearl350z}
"just recieved and installed the crawford intake manifold today. very quik and easy install(around 45min) with basic tools. note to others, dont forget the 2 vacume bolts. even though i have seen numerous people forget i still missed them and had to pull the topp back off to put them on. car feels much stronger from around 4grand and up, expecially the last 1500 rpms before redline. i would say this is the best bang for the buck mod i have done yet. more so by far then my aem intake, or injen exaust. doug was very helpful over the phone and helped with all my stupid questions. peace"

"I would like to add another positive review to a great product offered by Crawford Z. I installed the Plenum and STB today. Instructions and pix were excellent and easy to follow. Definitely a DIY!

{fdao}
Performance wise, the car PULLS from 4K onward to redline without hesitation and unlabored! It's almost like VTEC on a Honda . Torque down low remains unchanged, based on the "Butt-Dyno". There is a definite induction sound from 4K onward, but not intrusive; rather melodious. Overall, this car just hauls *** from 4K onward! Very pleased!

This product transformed the car a helluva lot more than when I had only the Y-pipe/Straight pipe combo.

Thanks Doug!"

"Another satisified customer here also. Mine is in a "G Coupe" though, and in the "G" you can use the engine cover, but it doesn't sit flat, due to the height of the plenum. Also there is a slight gap to the Oil Filler. Car pulls like crazy though. My exhaust is a fabricated true dual setup. Magnaflow muffler and two Blue Streak Glasspacks. The thing sounds awesome. The plenum is the best bang for the buck out there.

Lou"

My own comment(this is me Gsedan35 talking) that I've posted a couple of times is this. I noticed the difference in power from the very first moment I jumped on the throttle in first gear. You can feel the power gain at the usual peak acceleration point. And you can feel the improved power towards redline. What crawford claim's, +9hp at the power curve peak and going on to prevent as much of a power fall off to redline with a +20hp gain at redline. Is fully confirmed by my personel experience. I have to watch the tach more since it's much easier to kiss the rev limiter now. This is not a "I wonder if I will get any power gain mod?". No one who has put this thing on wonder's that. If you have the money and you want more power, buy it. You have no reason to wonder, it works as advertised. Easy to install, not to expensive, ton's of user's that sing the same praise.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the noise issue. At startup, when the engine is in high rpm idle startup mode. The pleneum ads a fluttering metalfleurious(ms) sound that at first catch's you off guard. But as you continue to drive the car, it disappears from your sense's and become's something completly part of the norm.

Here's a thread I created here on putting the plastic engine cover back on.

https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...sed&sb=5&part=

Needless to say, I vote for the crawford pleneum.

Re: ECU, CRAWFORD, OR HEADERS, WHICH SHOULD I GET?

Ramo, The Crawford Plenum is $500 at Strictly Z if you send back your stock plenum, otherwise you must pay another $200 (US dollars).
Apparantly Crawford has worked out a reasonable price for their new plenum which includes customers returning the stock plenum for them to modify for the next customers.
I've chosen to keep the original in case of warranty issues, so I'm paying the extra $200.

Gsedan35 posted his install and clearance fixes and altho there was a difference in fit with the stock plenum, it did fit fine and the cover will go back on with a slight clearance issue near the oil filler cap. The oil filler cap area was raised by about 3/4", necessitating the addition of a PVC sleeve to fill the gap. (no biggie).
The hood will close fine from what I saw, and the slight rubbing could be solved with a little cutting and trimming here and there. The rubbing was on the insulation, not the hood itself. (again no biggie)
Once this is done, it looks to me to be completely 'stealth'.

I've got big expectations for the Crawford Pl. (within reason). I'm hoping it will be good for 10-15 hp. which isn't bad for an engine that's already set up very well from the factory.
Good luck with yours.

Just get it directly from crawford z car. They charged me $450 and no $200 charge, unless if I was to keep my old plenum.

Just wondering, is this kind of mod worth it on an AT?

Re: ECU, CRAWFORD, OR HEADERS, WHICH SHOULD I GET?

Now if they could just bring down the price of the polished Plenum : $1100!!!!!!!! Then I'd be set, wouldn't have to worry about an engine cover fiting properly. Say $800. polished. Or even poweder coated to match my ground kit from Gordon...Say $600. for powder coated?

I installed mine without directions. I opened the box and their weren't any directions (I didn't know to just go to crawfords site and download them). I just looked at the stock pleneum, all the bolts are in plain site and took them off. Then I unclamped all the house line's, took the thing off and reinstalled in reverse order. It's that easy. I'd already read in previous posts about the blanking bolts and the bolt with the spacer, so I already knew about them. Did it in one hour, without directions. Oh and I did not have to go back and fix any mistakes.

Now if headers were only that easy

I wrote a complete idiot's guide to installing the plenum. If I can do it then anyone can.
