How many G owners came from Evos???
How many G owners came from Evos???
I currently own an 03 evo 8 400whp+. AMS 2.3L storker, Cosworth head, Jun cams, TRE trans, RPS twin Carbon clutch, etc. Very heavily modded. I am considering making a jump to the G35 coupe but am a little weary of the greatly decreased performance. I think I am ready for something a little more luxurious (leather, heated seats, etc) but I am a speed addict so I am still a little hesitant.
How many G owners on here have made the same jump I'm considering and are you happy with your purchase or do you wish you had kept the evo?
Thanks

No Comparison
Man, the way I look at it. There is no comparison, if you think that having a Evo is all that and a bag of chips, you have not really had the opportunity of enjoying driving. Yeah, the little things are fast, but hell, I have a G with that same WHP and it is a freakin blast. Not to mention, which car gets more attention, a Evo or a G? There really is nothing to consider in this car jump. I would do it. That way you could see what everyone on here experiences every day.
yea i agree with what was said above. think of it this way, G is SO classy and its not slow, even though its slow compared to 400whp evo, but it can at this point be easily done in a Gcoupe as well while keeping it nice with leather etc. Right now you can get a Vortech S/C with some bolt ons and a good tune to 400whp or spend a little more and get over 400whp with a single or TT...its also worth the comfort and sex appeal of the car...my 2 cents
Drop A votec supercharger in it, or a APS TT on a built motor
and you eat evo's alive (especially with the aps on an agressive tune)
Vortec looks like a lot of fun tho~!
<--- will drive vortec for sponsorship lol

To get the luxury and the performance you'll have to spend at least $60K and get an M3. The G35 is an excellent compromise car, but if you crave performance you may not be that happy. Of course another option is to buy a late model CPO M3 for about $40K.

Dude if you plan on spending the same amount of cash on the G as the Evo.. I think you'd have no problem having another fast car lol..
Just gotta consider that your car might lose some luxurious feel to it when you start tearing the thing apart.
I've always been dreaming Evo's. If I had the money I would have the Evo for a track car, G for a street car, and my beater

I made the jump from Evo MR Buschur Stage 1 to the G35 6mt. So far I only have 2300 miles on the car, and hoping that she continues to loosen up... but this is not a high performance car. It feels slow compared to the Evo... and very heavy. But it isn't a track car, so you can expect it to feel like one.
As for this comment
"if you think that having a Evo is all that and a bag of chips, you have not really had the opportunity of enjoying driving"
This is ignorant... the Evo is more of a "drivers" car than just about anything else on the road. Very few cars can perform better than the driver. The whole time I had the car, I didn't reach IT'S limits... It will let you push it just about as far as you want... and still laugh at you... that is enjoying driving.
I wish I could have a third car also... I wouldn't have sold the Evo!!!

^^^i agree. driven both cars the evo is more fun to drive. but the G handles great for a 3500lbs+ car.
on the upside, the interior of the G is much nicer. i really hated the interior of the evo.
also i dont know how old you are but the evo is more of a kid car. while the G has class and sportiness

The G is a great car and I enjoy it daily, but it's hard to compare it to an Evo. Not that I'm saying it's better or worse, but it's just a totally different breed. The evo is a light car made for performance...if you're into speed the G is a downgrade IMO. The G is a great luxury car with a bit of kick but in order to get it to fufil your speed binge you will have to spend more on it than you did your evo. If you've got the money to make it fast, then the G will be a great choice for you. Stop reading about the car on forums and go take it for a test drive! Let the car tell you about herself ;D
Well one deciding factor is I just got engaged so I'm looking to buy a car I won't be as tempted to mod. With the evo, it responded so well to mods that I just kept buying more and more sh*t for it.
Now I need to start saving for a house so I am hoping to buy something to just cruise around in, maybe add, I/E or other minor things to perk it up abit but for the most part keep it stock. After I buy a house and get my feet back under me I will be getting something fast again more than likely.
I am prepared for a downgrade in performance, bceause frankly speaking, after my evo, no matter what I buy, short of a C6 Z06 is going to be a step down. I just don't want to hate driving the car on a daily basis because it feels incredibly slow.
