Automatic Coupes...

I know there's more than a few of you on here who also have an automatic. Some get em because they can't drive manual, some got it for the luxury feel, whatever your reasons are. do any of you use the tiptronic feature? I never do, I got the automatic because it's automatic. I got tired of driving stick. Do anyone of you use the feature? and what kind of feeling do you get when you :shift: in your automatic?

Yeah, I use the manual shift mode in most of my driving unless I'm driving on highways etc. In automatic mode, the ecu shifts way too early. Plus the manual shift mode is way more fun

Hmmm... I see, but would it not be more enjoyable if you purchased a 6mt instead? Why did you purchase the 5AT?

Auto automatic............

This is my first automatic since my '68 Goat was new.
I survived the Northridge quake with my 300ZX inch
at a time until our freeways reopened. That really
sucked! I use the stick mode when I want to mess
with some ricer........

I got an AT simply because I got tired of shifting. All of the way back to 1980 until I leased a new 1997 Toyota 4 runner with a 5 speed manual, I shifted. Then I got a 00 Caddy and haven't looked back yet. I just love the AT. I have tried the manual mode once, but even that's too much work. LOL!!

I don't know. I got so used to driving an automatic, that i find it useless on my car. I love automatic now. another thing i hate is the parking brake on the floor... my ebrakes are so worn from always driving on em forgetting to pop it up. I wish it was on the console like "regular" cars, not like vans or suv's..

the automatics aren't as fun as a 6MT but the downshift revving always is fun especially when someone wants to try to play with you.

The manual mode is gay and confusing if your soo used to driving manual. Sometimes I upshift by pulling back which of course is the opposite. Therefor I just delete this option from my memory. If you want to shift and be able to take control of accelaration, GET the 6mt.

I wouldnt say it was confusing... but the manual mode sucks. it's feels like a toy or something. up and down control has no feeling of driving in manual. the **** barely moves. you can move it with your finger. there's no clutch, how boring is that. And when you stop or slow down, it automatically shifts back down to first... It's pointless

I just think it's easier these days to have the auto with all the traffic, etc. MTs are great fun, but not when you're in stop & go traffic.

When I was in the market, the only dealer had 6-7 autos and 1 MT. I didn't like the color/option combo and waited. Another shipment came in, no MT and the manager didn't anticipate any other MTs for awhile and couldn't get any from other dealers. I have read that only 10-15% of G35 coupes are MT. Since there is only one Infiniti dealer in NM, my choice was used (not preferred), buy from the next closest dealer (about 450 miles and a hassle to do), buy a Z (but no back seat). or get an AT in with the color and options I wanted. So I did, and I don't regret it at all. I have driven a lot of MT cars and like the AT G.

I have the manu-matic in my TLS. I've used it no more than 20 times in the 5 years I've owned the car. It's a gadget -- not a useful one, but a gadget nonetheless.

In retrospect, I should have bought a car with a manual to get it out of my system. (That's why I am so eagerly awaiting the 2nd gen g35c when it comes out) I also want to get a sports car before I get hitched and have kids (thus having to go back to a 4-door or even worse ... an SUV).

I have the tiptronic (sportshift) on my 99 Prelude, and use it pretty much every day since ....well Feb 1999 when I picked it up.
The G, I use it pretty much every minute I drive her, unless my cell phone rings....then I shift to full automatic mode.

It's a personal preference i guess....when I am tired after work, i just leave it on full automatic and cruise home, when I wanna lil fun....shift to manual mode and shift for myself.
