Exhaust leak.

I need some input from more knowledgeble people than me on this. I was at my friends shop and he pointed out that he could hear an exhaust leak and to prove it he put a rag over one tip and floored the car a little, sure enough I heard the hiss. Now the question is can you lose power due to a leak or is it just an nuisance of the louder sound you hear.
I did get it fixed yesterday and man it is quieter than before and for some reason it accelerates smoother and is a little more responsive...could this be true??

Yes, once it is fixed, it is the way it supposed to be. I'm not sure about the power loss, cause some theories state you gain power by letting the air out more freely, and some could argue that you lose power due to loss of back pressure. Either way, you better off without the leak and having things work the way they should. Enjoy
