Vibrating Problem On 2006 Coupe With 5k?

I have a stock height 2006 coupe with 20" wheels which I bought brand new. I have had no problems for the past 1000 miles but I hit a nice sized pothole and ever since I notice a vibration if I turn the wheel just slightly to the right. You dont even have to change lanes, you can just breathe on it to the right and it does it. 2 trips to the dealer so far and they say the car is fine. First trip the service manager tried to blame it on my tires which are brand new and have no bubbles like he suggested. @nd trip I went back with different wheels in the front and he is still givin me the **** block saying its fine. It gets worse as you go faster and faster and at 75-80 mph its pretty bad, bad enough that it woke up my gf coming home from the city. I'm now going to put stock 19" wheels back on the car and planning on bringing it back tomorrow and demanding a new wheel bearing on my front driver side. Anyone else hear anything about wheel bearings going bad?

lemon law doesn't cover you running over a big pothole and screwing up your own car. it is not your wheel bearing. your wheel is bent. dealer won't help you unless it happens with your stock 19's. they also shouldn't help you if you tell them you ran over a pothole.

I could almost guarantee your wheel is bent, as I have had 3 different bent wheels, almost all came from hitting a pothole.

Try taking it to a wheel and tire shop and have them check for "rim runout". They will take the tire off, and mount the wheel to a special balancing maching that has an arm with a rounded tip. They put that tip on the inside of the edge of the wheel, where the tire will seat, and then rotate the wheel slowly. The balancing computer measures movement in the arm both side to side and up and down, and will tell you if it is bent.

If you can remember which wheel hit the pothole, check that one first, if you can't remember, start with the left front, since it vibrates when you turn to the right.

Then you may have bent something else. I wouldn't fight the dealer on this one. You were in an accident; you damaged the car on the pothole; that's the reality. I've had a few friends recover the repair costs from the municipality responsible for the road maintenance otherwise there's insurance. Try taking it to a body shop...

not sure of an idiot, but that does sound more like an accident than
lemon. i would throw back your stock wheels on and see if it makes
a difference. you may have knocked off the weights on your aftermarket
wheels.

chances are his dealership put a note on his account saying he hit a pothole if he mentioned it to the dealer.. so going to another dealership probably wont help but it may

I had the exact same thing this spring. It was the wheel bearings....my vibration was a bit worse than your sounds though. I changed the rims, the tires nothing seemed to change a thing, 4th time to dealer they replaced the wheel bearing housing unit on my right front, and all the bearings, and now it drives like it did before. I actually avoided a crash and met Mr. curb at 40km/hr (~25mph) rather than your pothole incident. Dealer would not cover it.
Definalty a possiblity for you to check out though, the wheel bearings didnt "go bad" they were damaged by an impact, its will cost you.
