I figured out how to switch the 'DISP'lay options by holding down DISP so that it shows name, title or channel. When I am listening to FM it scrolls through the station name, artist name and song name as the music plays. On the XM channels it just shows the first 10 characters of one of these and that's it. Fine if you're listening to U2. Not so good if you are listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers...

Does anyone know if this behaviour can be fixed?

 

In my 05 sedan, you can't get any more than the first screen of each: title, track or artist.

Even though scrolling works fine with MP3s.

About the only gripe I have with the implementation of XM in the G.

 

How did you get it to scroll with MP3? Mine only shows the file name, but the first 10 chars or so...I can't figure out how to make it scroll....

 

Just press DISP momentarily and it will scoll (assuming you have 05/06 - not sure if this works on 03/04)

Akrus just stated that if we press the disp button it should scroll. I will try it on my lunch break

Yeap. Each time I hit DISP it showed the next 10 chars. Better than nothing I suppose.

 

yea it will scroll if u HIT it but its not an Auto scroll. Thats what we wanted.

 

yea, i had that problem too with my CDs. I gets annoying that it doesnt scroll. Wouldnt be surprised if the 07s are able to scroll

 

ok... i re-tried it for the upteenth time... and even might doesnt scroll....

I HIT it many times ... towards the end i even smacked it!! and it still didnt scroll.... it just shows the 10 or whatever characters for song/title/artist thats abt it.... it needs to auto scroll.... its bad enough being stuck with the ugliest looking radio! and even more annoying is that it doesnt scroll....

 

Do you have Bose or non-Bose?

It should give you another screen of text, and maybe even a third screen (it's been awhile since I've tried)

Why do you say the radio is ugly? I think it suits the interior well. i just wish they put the display info up on the dash where the HVAC display is. Makes so much more sense to reverse the location of the two.

I think they've done a great job on the system we've got for the money/space. Everything else I looked at didn't come close to what's in the G.

 

I have the Bose and it will only show about 10 characters at a time. I guess we can not get it to auto scroll so the title keeps going through like a banner. That would be cool.
