Passenger side screech noise!

Hey,
Whenever I am coasting at low speeds either in neutral or 1st, there is a very disturbing screeching noise from what seems like the rear passsenger side.
The sound is very much like a brake screeching, but I never push the brakes, and it still makes that noise. It happens sometimes, and it doesn't, embarassing, people look at me funny...

What could be the problem? Would it harm anything? I have an appointment setup but want to be safe if I should drive it at all or not. (Hopefully I can reproduce this screech at the dealer...)

Thanks!

happen to me, did u change your brake pads? I had to change mine at 42000 miles, first the front, then the rear. For some reason, the pads did not wear out evenly, it started to screech because it was down to the bear metal. It was really easy to change them. DO NOT GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR BREAK PADS. They charge almost 200 dollars just for the rear!. Find RAYBESTOS brand, they go for about 30 dollars..

IF it sounds like the breaks, it very welll could be. Do you notice any extra heat coming from the wheel after you drive? If so, your pad could be worn down to nothing or your caliper could be seized. I think you should be ok drivin it to the dealer, just dont push it hard.

thanks for the replies.
see the thing is, why i don't think its the brakes is because i am never pushing the brake pedal...if i push the brake pedal, the noise goes away. only happens when coasting.

btw, i only have 8000miles on this car and its a 05.

yea i had someone stand outside to make sure where the noise is coming from and it is most def. from the rear passenger. i just hope i can reproduce it at the dealer. yet another problem with this car...never ends.

bringing it on tuesday along with 10 other rattle/squeak issues.
i think i have a rattle/squeak limited edition g35.

I just had the same problem. One of my rotors was bad, and the rest needed to be resurfaced. Mine is an 03' with about 60,000, but I don't know why your brand new G is having this problem.

how many miles do you have on your car? i seriously doubt it's your pads...i'm going through the same thing with the dealers and i've brought it back twice but failed to reproduce the same squeak on the rear passenger side when coasting. i'm almost 100% sure it's the rear axle. i had the tsb done last january but i have a feeling it's coming back. i'm bringing it back to the dealer again this week to see if i can reproduce the noise once again. you're not alone. good luck.

i will keep that in mind when i bring it to the dealer tomorrow. that TSB number and mention it to them to see if that rings any bells for them.

thanks again for your help, and will let you know how it turns out.
