New Phone - Resets Phone Book?

I got a new phone this past week and paired it to the car. Later that day I went to call home using the phone book and noticed all my carefully hand inputted numbers are gone.

Very annoying, especially since the downloading of my numbers via Bluetooth doesn't work with my phone. I wonder why it would do this?

The good news is that your phone #'s aren't gone. The bad news is that they might as well be.

The car keeps a separate phonebook for up to 5 phones. So you can have your list of 40 phone #'s and your wife/girlfriend can have her own list of 40. Whichever phone pairs with the car the corresponding list of 40 phone #'s become available. Try as I might, though, I haven't found a way to transfer phone #'s from one phonebook to another. You can think of this as a security feature. No one can see your phone #'s unless they have your phone to pair with the car.

You have several options when installing/pairing a new phone.
IIRC if you choose 'replace existing', then the phone book stays.
If you 'add new', then delete your old one, you loose it.

If you haven't yet deleted the old phone, try deleting the new one, then 'replace' the old

Thanks - this is an excellent piece of information as I just got my car and am about to upgrade my phone, and have just input several #s into the phonebook.

Thanks for the info InTgr8r. I just got my car about a month ago, and spent a good amount of time setting my phonebook up. Now i'm going to upgrade my phone within the next month or so. Glad to know I can do this!

***Confirmed***

I just tested this with another phone.

I used the 'replace' option when pairing & the phone book went to the new phone.

Another thing to try....
IIRC the system accepts 6 phones.
The phone book may be assigned internally to one of the 6 positions.

Install your phone to all 6, & you just might find that one of them picks up the phonebook.

I am not able to find the Replace option.. Where is that?

I do still see my old phone in the paired phone list. Do i delete my old phone from this list? I was afraid that my phonebook will be deleted.
