How to finish my muffler delete?

Hey guys, so I've had my G for about a month and after enjoying it's engine and exhaust notes for a couple of weeks, I decided today that it was time to check into exhausts and intakes. So just for grins I took off my mufflers today (surprisingly easy, took about 15 minutes or less) and I am INCREDIBLY happy with the results. My "perfect exhaust" is one that has a little noise/grunt/throatiness but will not drone when cruising; the muffler removal did this PERFECTLY. So anyways, right now I just have no mufflers on, and it's perfect, so I was wondering what the easiest/best/cheapest way of completing this is? Would a muffler shop make a pipe to connect to the midpipe and pop out the back? and if so, could I put the stock tips on so it looks stock instead of a plain pipe? or is there some pipe prefabricated that I can purchase online? Let me know my options guys.

Also, if anyone has a suggestion for an intake with similar characteristics(a little grunt when accelerating but no drone), let me know:0)

Cali G did this a while back...
https://g35driver.com/forums/tech-07...ound-clip.html

Then he had a custom set of pipes made so he had some tips...

He's now selling his setup for $375 in the Marketplace

thanks man!
I've contacted Cali G about purchasing his setup, but he's wanting way to much in my opinion, although it's a clean-looking setup.

Does anyone have any idea of how much it would cost to have a shop fab something like his? I've never had any exhaust components fabricated before. Thanks!

Cali is looking for top dollar for his setup.
He actually got flamed for it in his thread, but to his credit, it is custom work.

If you go to a shop and ask them to hack out your cans and replace them with straight pipes, I can't imagine spending more than a few hundred on the work.

Cali's setup allows you to swap back to the stock cans at any time.
It all depends on what you want. Every mod I have made to my car is 100% reversible.
Some people don't care much about that, so if that's the case, you may be able to save some coin and just have straight pipes welded in.

no no, I definitely want it to be reversible, that's why i really like Cali's setup. I want a pipe that will be bolted to the current "midpipe" and look stock coming out the back, you think that would cost a couple hundred bucks from a shop? I know he'll take $290 shipped for his, is that worth it? I offered him $200 because I just don't see spending more than that for a set of custom 2' long pipes you know?

I agree.
Not to bash Cali, but $375 is just too high now.
When he did this, he was the first. Nobody had done anything like that with the 07+ sedan yet and he dumped quite a few bucks into the labor for these to turn out the way he wanted. It's not that pretty underneath, but it gives the result he wanted. It's a muffler delete that looks stock when you look at the back of the car. It gives the sound you want, but don't expect any power gains... you'll need a cat-back at least for that.

The problem is, however, that just because he spent that doesn't mean that it's what it's worth today.
Again, I'm not bashing Cali, but I do hope he comes to terms with this loss and accepts your offer. He's never going to sell those pipes for what he's asking.

i realize cali's setup makes it reversible, but how is pulling the mufflers not reversible? you don't *need* tips sticking out the back

after looking at cali's setup it seems like the "v-clamp" was the most difficult part to "fabricate." However, after some quick searching it seems like places such as summit or jegs carry v-clamp kits...is this the same thing that he was saying was so specialized? this link for example...

haha, ya that's true, in fact I put the mufflers back on today because I went to pickup my new wheels:0) BUT, no mufflers with muffler cutouts in the bumper does look a little strange.

Ya that does look like it's pretty much the same thing, assuming it would work in conjunction with the stock midpipe clamp. The only thing you really need from that kit is the lip for the new pipe, you already have a lip on the existing pipe and the clamp you know? not that specialized really.
