K & N Air Filters? Who uses? Dyno'd?

I used to have a K and N filter on my mustang. They dyno'd on motor trend and had like an 8hp difference.

I just bought my car last night and the K and N today. Anyone use them on the G? Good, bad, no difference?

If anything, I save cash on not having to buy another air filter.

There have been varying opinions on this topic. I believe the general consensus is the K&N will give you a 5-9hp gain. Combine it with the Stillen airbox and a 350z duct and you'll see even more.

Caution is advised. I went to the dealer to ask about the K&N addition and they warned me that it could void the car's warranty. The dealer's head mechanic said that the oil that is used in the air filter can heat up and drip down into the engine openings causing serious problems. Does anyone else have any experience with this idea?

Ron , Yeh I guess if you over oil the K&N after cleaning, it can mess things up like the MAF sensor , but if the instructions are followed carefully there should be no issues.
The h/p gains on our cars won't be as high as others since our G's are already highly tuned. Some have said they notice a diff with their 'butt' dyno, and somewhere I've seen a dyno showing 5-6 hp gain. I think it was a Z.
Incidentally, my dealer installs K&N's to those who want a little more performance and want to save a few bucks on filter changes. At my dealer, using these would absolutely not void the car's warranty.
Good luck.

That's the same for any car. It only happens if you over oil the k and n when you clean it. It can stick up the mass air flow sensor. Just don't over oil your filter and you should be fine.

The nissan paper filters are oiled too, so if your MAF ever gets screwed up just buy a brand new nissan paper filter and throw it on there. Then if the service guys ever complain, say the oil came from the paper filter.

I am serious about this, i put my K&N in the day I bought my car, set my stock filter on the bottom of a box and the next day i wrapped it up for safe keeping. Well under the filter in the box was a nice rectangular oil stain with shiny spots
