5AT Reliability

What’s the general consensus regarding the 5AT transmission?
I’m confident the transmission will do just fine under normal driving conditions but how does it hold up when it comes down to spirited driving?
To all of you that continuously track your cars; what do you have to say?
Thanks in advance.

Spirited driving its fine... 350ZNV tracked his Stillen SC stage 2 5AT coupe and he said the tranny held up nicely

Are there any official max. power output numbers available?
If not, ballpark, how much safe horsepower/torque can we run?
Thanks =)

I've had my 03.5 5AT Sedan since December 02. It's still all stock, but I autocross it once or twice a month, which goes beyond "spirited" driving. (I do that too on the commute to/from work occassionally.) So once or twice a month the car gets pushed hard -- DOT-R tires, literally smoking brake pads, and burning through an 1/8 of a tank of gas in what is effectively less than 10 miles.

The tranny seems to be in as good a shape as the day I drove the car off the lot.

The 5AT is the same unit used is the Q45, M45, and Titan. I'd have to say it's more than up to the task of handling 300wtq and high loads (towing). Remember not to trust a shop that rates a tranny in HP. It's the torque that kills a tranny, not the HP. Also, HP is derived from torque. These trannies could easily handle 600hp if they were in an F1 car because the motor only makes about 250 ft/lbs of torque. But a 500hp/500ft/lb Viper V10 would turn the tranny into a pretzel.
