i always figured taking parts to the dealer for install was best...i mean theres no way i'd have a supercharger installed their but for osmething minor liek osme springs i figured no biggy. if someone somwhere were to mess my shiiat up i'd be screwed whether they hadda warranty or not. that is why i feel the dealer is the best option but may not so cost-effective. there is actually some guys at dealers who know what they are doing and wont rip you off the hards part is finding them...i got a cold air, pedals, and some other thins inslalled for merely nothing at my dealer thats why i was so suprised about this $600 quote!

Rule 1: Never take your car to dealer for works other than warranty or regular service.
I just bought a set of z springs/shocks and my local performance shop quotes me $100 to install. It is like a max 2 hours job so it is reasonable.
You should ask members for recommendation of a good mechanic who lives close to you.

Most shops will calculate a spring install by the time to complete. The average time is 1 hour per corner. If you presume an hourly rate of 85-100dollars, you can probably expect to pay 350-400 dollars at pretty much any shop. I think that 600 dollars is too high. I am sure that you can find it cheaper elsewhere. But don't expect it to be under 350 bucks.
Also, was the dealer including the required alignment in the price? If so that will add 75-150 dollars depending on how much they charge. That would actually make 600 dollars a pretty realistic number.
