everytime i see a coupe or a Z33 pull up at night, they will for sure have a run with my sedan.... its like they are thinking, oh thats a sedan, i can easily smoke it. but so far, the results is obvious. sedan > coupe

last nite, this 03-04 6MT coupe pulled up and started going, so i just followed a bit until a red light then had a run with it, the guy in the car started looking cocky at first, so i just gave him a smile. once the green light goes, i let him start first to see if he is really going, so he was then i started to go, by around 3rd gear, he was already 2 car length behind me! the 2 guys looked shocked at the next light after being smoked by a automatic sedan

even 05-06 6MT coupes were pretty much the same. if Infiniti advertise that the 6MT's have at least 298HP... i think mine would be over 320 in order to smoke them everytime. looks like Blitz intake + Y-Pipe + HKS exhaust and Amuse ECU tuning makes this big of a difference. so far, i have not lost to another G or Z. lemme continue my winning record

 

Shoulda posted this in the coupe forum! For your answer, just look at some of the childish comments made by coupe fanboys in the "Coupe vs Sedan" thread. They think their coupe excretia doesn`t stink!
BTW, I love the coupe. Best looking reasonably priced 2 door on the market.
And, let`s face it, it has that great G35 sedan powertrain!

 

I have an 03 6MT coupe, and I definitely have read a lot of hotshots on this board that think because we only have two doors we should waste everybody with four. But I will point out that I think your tunes have a lot less to do with the outcome than the fact that the coupe is substantially heavier and that you have an automatic. He probably sucks at shifting, which gives you a huge advantage.

Coupe owners need to recognize our cars for what they are: stunningly beautiful sports cars with very nice power. Anybody who owns a coupe but needs to burn sedans at lights to feel good about themselves should have bought a Civic.

 

Coupes are actually about ~50-60 pounds heavier. Some 350Z/G35C drivers think just because their cars look faster than anything on the road it really is faster than anything on the road...

Unfortunately, you are experiencing the "I drive a coupe and are faster/better than thou" mentality. The people suffering from this ailment are prone to high vehicle operating costs and early retirement. Steer clean of people whom fall into this category.

 

Hyde, I guess they pick on you because they mistakenly believe they will beat you. Good for you that you send them away with their tail between their legs.

 

Sedans are definately soccer mom-mobiles in terms of looks, albeit very fast ones. However, is a stock sedan actually faster than a stock coupe? The loss in horspowere seemed to be offset by the gain in torque.

The (loaner) sedan I drove when my coupe was worked on had excellent acceleration, although no-where near the handling of my coupe.

Now I want to race you....lol

 

From what I have seen on average the sedan is a little bit faster than the coupe. A few years ago the coupe was a 100+ lb heavier. Now they are closer in weight. Stock/Stock it would come down to a driver's race.

As for looks, the coupe is a better looking car. (IMO and I drive a sedan) I needed a sedan because I have a 3 year-old so for me it is not "useless" like some above me think. Still I love it and think the sedan is one of the best looking cars on the road. Not everyone feels that way and that's fine. But the average personality of someone in a coupe is going to be more ready to race and play around. There are more soccer moms in sedans. And lets face it, if you were to line up the sedan, coupe and a 350Z which one looks like it would loose? There you go... As for what happens when they do race, that is not always how it ends.

We are and always will be the minority on this site and just need to laugh when they make a$$es out of themselves and end up in the rear-view.

 

Have you ever considered the fact that maybe its not the other guy, but the problem is you? I mean c'mon, if you chase after some random guy on the street to the next light, AND he notices that you have a modified car (lowered, oem kit, and exhaust, etc., etc. etc...), what did you expect was gonna happen? Why even follow along in the first place if you didn't want to race?

I mean I don't think people "pick on you" because you specifically have a G35 sedan. I think its more because its modified and you are taking actions that signal the other driver that you are open to running him.

Its cool if you want to race and do this on purpose; but to say that coupes are picking on you because you have a sedan, makes it sound like you have some sort of inferiority complex.

BTW, no disrespect, I love your car, I have a sedan myself.

 

I think it would be fun to have a modifies sedan that looks stock. I love to surprise people.

I am trying to talk my fiance into getting one when we have kids....but she wants an SUV.

 

Sedan owners can limo out more of their car. Coupes have that long door/long glass with basically the whole side having light tint. So, yes I bought the sedan to have limo-tint superiority


I like both sedan and coupe--but I decided on sedan b/c I have a baby/seat in back and its just easier to deal with.
