15K mile service - Go to dealer or not
#32
My current practice is to do things based on mileage, with the caveat that, with my truck that I only drive about 4000 miles/year, I change the oil every 6 months. Don't want moisture to build up in the oil.
With my car, I've kept the oil change interval to under 3000 miles, except for the one time it went 3200. The other services are closer to the mileage given.

All I plan on doing that will cost me money (other than tires and maybe a coolant flush) is change the oil and oil filter for the life of the car which for me will be 60K miles- when it is out of warranty and I will sell it. I seriously doubt the failure to do anything else will impact me getting to 60K without any problems so why spend the bucks. I do not think performance will be impacted either. I did this with my 93 240sx till 80K when I sold it and never had a problem. I serviced my BMW 540 from day 1 and had numerous problems so go figure. Guess that speaks highly of Japanese cars and poorly of German cars.
