Worst keyfob ever

Love the car. Hate the keyfob. Worst I have ever owned. Works about 10 feet tops from car and not at every angle when walking toward car. Every other keyfob I have owned including on my current Jeep has at least a 30 foot range. I have had keyfobs with 60 foot ranges and higher (or course i'm estimating).

Oh well.

Hold it to your chin

Or... do what I did and get an after-market alarm with remote start and 1/4 mile TX and RX range

Re: Worst keyfob ever

Yeah distance does suck, but you gotta love the all window down feature on a hot day! Also I noticed the fob doesn't go off accidently, probably because of the short range. My wife's old dodge intrepid had a fob so sensitive and such long rang it was too easy to pop the trunk from inside the house. I ended up removing the trunk button to prevent it.

I have to disagree. Maybe you have a defective one. Mine has tons of range. I can unlock from a block away easy.

Mine also has limited range. Often do the chin trick to help it along. Perhaps it's the battery?

Re: Worst keyfob ever

mine works fine. in fact, i usually leave my keys in my car (in my garage). i had spare set on counter. daughter was clicking it to make horn honk.

i thought i unlocked it. but next day, i'm in a hurry, run downstairs to take off, and freakin car is locked. gotta run back up.....

Re: Worst keyfob ever

Looks to me like the issue was resolved on the 04 models.

Re: Worst keyfob ever

Maybe it was resolved in the 03.5's because mine works fine. What I do notice is that a quick double click does not open all doors. I have to click it once then wait a second and click again but it works from quite a distance away.

Re: Worst keyfob ever

My range seems fine. I know it sounds dumb but maybe change your batteries in the fob. Even if your car is new the batteries might not be good.

Re: Worst keyfob ever

My sedan is only 2.5 months old, but I guess it's possible the batteries are the culprit. Won't cost much to find out!

Re: Worst keyfob ever

My keyfob works fine and has a good range, at least compared to the one for my Jeep (which works 80% of the time, opens all doors with a single press of the button 50% of the time, and has a range of about 20 feet 60% of the time).

My only complaint about the G35's keyfob is that the Panic button is way too sensitive.

Re: Worst keyfob ever

Its actually the fobs die after a while, I noticed it on my maxima and the G, It used to work about 1/4 mile away, now its like 20 feet.

Mine is a 2003.5 and works great from at least 60 feet away!
