I'm open to ideas on how to open up the Fujitsubo to be a little louder.
I'm ForcedFed headers and a Gruppe-S y-pipe (Fuji knock-off) with the Fuji exhaust. Without the exhaust, it sounded similar to the coupe's exhaust tone, although perhaps slightly louder. With the Fuji exhaust it's noticibly louder, but not obnoxious at all. I just didn't want it as loud as it was. I put some sound deadening in the truck to compensate for it, and I'm a happy camper.

No prob... it's a pretty clean look, the canister is oval so the overall look is fairly close to OEM. The Blitz on the other hand, is a total fart can with it's round canister... but I still miss it

Thanks, I was thinking about getting headers and Crawford cats to open it up a bit but I'm afraid of CA smog. Have you ran into any trouble with that at all?

Not yet (knocking on wood), but I just got the exhaust. I also try to keep a low profile on the road most of the time. No reason to pull me over; no hassling me about aftermarket parts (again knocking on wood).

with people who live in Cali that have the Fuji or HKS exhaust, do you pass smog? or are those exhausts smog legal?

No reason why either one wouldn't pass, they are both cat-back and don't do anything as far as particulate emissions are concerned.

Just for clarification for other sedan owners:

HKS is an axle-back exhaust
Fuji is a y-pipe back (?) exhaust, unless you get the y-pipe separately. Then it's a cat-back.
Stillen and Borla are cat-back exhausts

I don't know about other brands.

There shouldn't be a problem with smogging the car, unless you get a real stickler of a smog tech who has to see a CARB number for anything that doesn't look stock. If you get someone like that, just go to a more leniant shop. I think us CA people won't have to worry about smogging our cars for 6 years from registration, so I'll worry about it in 4 years.

my friend was telling me that he heard somewhere that cops will start using infared lasers and other gizmos to check if a car doesn't pass emissions, smog, carb, ect. Its like a radar for illegal emissions, u pass by and if it reads the magic numbers, ur "OFFICIALLY" SCREWED, sounds wierd to me, but then again, these days, the law is steppin it up, sucks for those with test pipes, my friend and his bro both got Swapped Celica's with the GT-Four motors, they r in deep ****

You are correct.

What I meant to write was, all of the exhausts we are discussing are after the cat, and so do not affect emissions. I used a bad choice of words, but they are all "cat-back" so to speak.

For the record, the HKS and Blitz are axle-back, and the Fujitsubo is y-pipe back.
