Any former IS300 owners out here?

I'm wondering if there are any former IS300 owners reading this forum who would be willing to share the impressions after they switched to a G35? I'm currently driving a non-modded manual IS300 with an LSD and debating whether I would feel better in a G35. I test drove a bunch of them but I would like to compare opinions of other respected members

Thanks!

I had a 02 IS300 (auto), with a little bit of bolt on stuff, sways, staggered 18s, race pipe, SRT intake, SAFC ... and went to a coupe not sedan so comparo is not exactly the same. The IS hands down was more fun to drive, it was so tossable and felt more nimble. The G35 is big compared to the IS and you can feel the weight, it's a bit more bloated feeling and not as crisp in handing as the IS. The G35 will out handle the IS and is quicker through the turns, but it just doesn't feel like it. Powerwise, no comparison the G35 smokes the IS, bottom end, top end in all aspects. Build quality I would have to say is about the same, the interior of the G35 does look more fresh and integrated then the IS. If you want something fun to drive the IS is better, but the G is quicker and has better handling. I don't look back, I'm happy I made the change to the G35 from the IS300, no regrets. I don't know how old you are but the G35 seems more polished and refined then the IS which seems more like is fit for a younger generation. Don't take offense at this, IMO the image of the G35 seems more sopisticated then the IS which seems more like a boy-racer type of car. The new IS350, now that's a whole nother ball game, it may be time to switch back again.

i totally agree with you, my gf has a g35 sedan and her sister has the IS, i driven both car, and they're both fun to drive. the IS does seem like it can handle better, because its a smaller body. but overall i would go with the g35, just wish it was stick and not auto.

if i was you, look for a 6spd g35 sedan and get new suspension, then you'll be happy with power and handling. cuz the g35 sedan does feel like a boat, but thats cuz its a lot bigger then the IS. i'm going to lower the g35 sometime soon on some z springs and see how that is, from what i've read, a lot of people like the way it looks and gives a lil better handling b/c of the lower center of gravity.

I lowered my sedan - felt much better afterwards.
The sedans have quite a bit of body roll, so a drop and maybe some other stuff is needed. but the car handles pretty dam good stock anyways

The Infiniti brand attracts the youngest customers out of Lexus, BMW, Acura etc...

I thought the IS300 was a well rounded car, however, I also believe the G is a young looking car as well (more so the coupe than the Sedan).

My last car was a 2003/ Is300, which i traded in last year for the G35. My impression well it's not fast as G35 also it doesn't catch attention like the g35..but even untill these day i miss my IS300. Allthough after i bought my is300 for straight 2 years i tried my best to do all the mods available out there except for Boost which i once seriously consider doing with toyomoto. Anyways mine didn't had the Lsd option but, indeed it was one of the fun car that i have ever owned. .matter of fact i am in the market rite now looking for a is300 for daily driving. Don't get me wrong i think g35 is much better car then is300 & i love my G. The thing that i miss about the Is300 was it a very fun car to drive and i felt very much connected to the car & that's something i don't get on my G.

there was a connection with the IS?

how does the IS compare to other Lexus vehicles? I have been in a SC 430 and a GS430 and I felt absolutely NO connection at all, It feels rather distant compared to my G IMO

yeah , the IS300 has great road feel. It was more responsive then the G35. It gave you more confidence when driving.

the IS350 is said to have a distant drive unlike the G35.

was this a paradigm shift? b/c I never thought of lexus as responsive.

The IS300 is a great all around car and no car on the market can beat its reliability except (SC430) if you are not going to go with forced induction on the IS which responds better then well just about any car on the market ( basically a 4 door Supra) oh and the message forums are much more active/ helpful then around here... you will never have the power of the G35 w/o forced induction ... I can tell you that you will not be dissapointed in the switch to the G it is a slightly more mature looking car ... however if your going to get an 06 or 07 IMHO you would be crazy not to seriously consider the IS350 i don't much like the looks of the G sedan. good luck you won't be dissapointed with either... both great cars from great companies
