Wind Noise

Just got our car about a month ago. Basically love it. One thing bothers me though: Quite a bit of wind noise at normal freeway speeds (65-75). Thought the car would be quieter. Does everyone experience this or do I have something that needs fixing? My 2001 Acura CL-S is a lot quieter, but doesn't handle quite as well.

Re: Wind Noise

Check out some discussion on this here wind noise (fresh alloy)

I had a bad mirror initially that was replaced under warranty. That helped a lot and the car is a LOT quieter, but not as quiet as say a Passat. There also seems to be some correlation between humidity and wind noise as well on cross winds.

One thing I tried and that seems to have helped is to push with your palm against the door jamb or window when driving. That seems to have seated the door a little better and made the car a little quieter.

Having said all that, most of my passengers can't seem to understand what I am talking about and find the car quiet enough. Other thing I realized that is on the G, you do 80 (or more) a lot more than you do on any other car. The G speedo is very accurate (Passat was about 5mph over at 60) so in other cars, the speedo may indicate 60 but you are only doing 55.

Hope that helps.

Wind noise is the 2k2 maxima that I had. The G is very quiet coming from that car. So far the only noise is a low howl/wail from the windows. It has only occured a few times. Lasting a few secs in duration.

The only wind noise I get on mine, is just from the windshield, no air leak, just the aerodynamics, I don't see any way around that unless your windshield is almost flat, LOL!

well, the G35 is alot more quiet than our A4 and Matrix. It is, ofcox, more quiet than my friend's Golf, Rav4, and X5 4.4i. However, the 4.4i is more comfortable...

10X quieter than the 98 Maxima I came from. Wind noise is minimal.

Most of the noise in my car at highway speed is road/tire noise. It's much louder than the wind.
