I have jacked my G35 sedan with my floor jack
by raising via the side sills, no problem. The lift portion
of the jack has some indentations around the circular end.
I just make sure the indents match up with the sill indent.

Ditto!
If you're carefull, a standard floor jack will work fine with no modifications. Common sense is the only tool needed. I would be carefull about letting a tire shop or Jiffy Lube use a spider jack though. Those guys are careless as hell. It makes life just a little bit more difficult.

Re: Jack point for G??
Sounds like a pretty precarious point to use a floor jack. I would not recommend this at all. Use your scissor jack on the side sills, use your floor jack on your underbody jack points. Period. That's what they were designed for.
