Since it want let me edit the reason you may have pulled a little on the 30mph roll deal is because of gearing, if that 02 Max didnt shift into 2nd but 3rd you would slightly if it had it would have been on ya like white on rice. Thats a good example of the better gearing of 5spd auto vs 4spd auto with cars with very similiar power.

 

With both you guys going from 30 there is the small error for reaction time, etc...you are dead on about the no tire spin etc, but then there is what is the gear ratio of each tranny at the time of hammering it, etc...the higher you guys gun it at, the quicker you will pull away...b/c we have a way better top end in the G.

If you go to Maxima.org you can see the unreal times the 02-03 SEs are running...a lot better than our Gs. I have been discussing this since back in June when I got my G too. I hate it, but it's true.

Isn't most of the reason the 02-03 Max doing better times marginaly because its fwd and fwd cars have less tranny loss and also because the car weights less?

 

Actually... most of the reason is the fact that the Maxima is just a pretty decently fast sedan with the same VQ as the G35.

Quality-wise, it can't touch the G... but, that VQ speaks volumes!

Of course Vq is one of the best engines out there. I was just saying that it maybe about .1-.2 sec faster because its a fwd and fwd cars have less tranny loss and its a lighter car by about 170lbs.
