When I did my last service I had the tech road test my car. It seems noticably harsher than an 05 6 speed I have driven. They said the suspension was not modified and working ok. I (my wife) would like a more compliant ride but I (me) dont really want to give up much on the handling front. If the ride height drops some that is ok too but not my primary goal. What setup / brand should I look at to get a smoother ride and maintain strong handling.

If you have the sport then you could go to non-sport struts...

It's people like that (or his wife I guess?) that keep manufacturers from making a true sport model SPORT.

There is nothing "sport" about the sport model IMO. It needs better suspension, brakes, seats and a closer ratio 6spd. But then who am I?!

Here is the thing...it doesnt seem to ride as well as other "stock sport suspensions" i have been in. The dealer seemed to say that all cars vary some yadayadayada which meant to me they thought it was kinda rough too. The part that is annoying are rougher roads at slow speed. Once at highway speed the ride really smooths out.
So If I went aftermarket instead of replacing it with another factory setup I was thinking of something like the EDFC so i could have some control over it. What setup do you have?

no doubt about the seats. there is no lateral support at all!!!

check your tires pressure. if they are overinflated the ride will feel terribly harsh.

Tein SS with EDFC, this should be everything you want.

I changed to coupe seats for just that reason.

I have been considering that as well...are they plug and play or are mods necessary.
there is an airbag in our seats isnt there...does it work when you switch to the coupe seat?

stiffer is not always better. In our area we get plenty of snow but no one seems to know how to work a snow plow without redesigning the roads. so they are in poor condition at best. My buddies autocrosser handles great in a smooth parking lot but on our roads its all over the place.
It is more about chassis dynamics.
This is something the "bavarians" do very well. Ms have reasonably compliant ride while still being some of the best handling on the road.

The set I got did not have the same plugs. The coupe seats have the control module built on them and it is somewhere else on the 04' sedan. It required a little work on my part to figure out which wires needed to be used and which were not needed.

Both seats have the side airbags.

The passenger seat sits too low and needed new bolts and some spacers to raise up a little. My 5'2" girlfriend could not even see the bulge from my Stillen hood before that. Believe me that is low!

It was one the best mods I have done. I hated the sedan seats during spirited driving. Any "sport sedan" needs seats more like the coupe seats.

What tires/size do you have on? Going from ultra high performance to summer touring in same size will add comfort.

How much leg room was lost in the rear? When are you gonna post pictures of this?

Very little (if any) was lost. I just got back there the other day to see and there is still tons of room. My 6'2" friend had no problem sitting in the back when a 5'11" guy was in the seat in front of him.

Good point. Tire sidewall will help. If you get some very sitcky tires with a good size sidewall you could have a little better ride and still good grip.
