not on its own - 80mph in 3rd is ~6000rpm, and it doesn't do it readily. however, I have technosquare L-spec reflash and usually drive in manumatic, so shifting into 3rd is quite agreeable, and i have room until 100mph in 3rd (~7100rpm) before i have to switch to 4th.

Codeflux - damn...you drive fast!

I finally had a chance to pick up the CRC cleaner & do it myself. Per the directions on the can, I did the full 15 sprays & let it dry fully. I will say though that I was a bit confused from the instructions in the thread mentioned above, as I did not see a grill as mentioned in scorcher's thread #25 above. I definitely feel a difference. I have 47K miles on my car & have a K&N filter. I cleaned my filter this summer & it was a nasty mess. My car is more response & feels like it has been woken up! I also feel like there's more torque @ low RPMS. Thanks..definitely worth the $6!

I think you know this, but your wording is confusing, so I'm clearing it up for anyone who hasnt opened up their intake before.

On another note, THANKS!! this really helped.
when i said filter i meant the grill on the maf. sorry for confusion

FYI - In the newest issue of Super Street, there is a full rebate (up to $5.99)for the CRC MAF cleaner...

I just picked a can up and cleaned it last night...haven't driven my car yet...but will let everyone know if I notice any gains today. I have 50k on my 03.5...

I did mine a month ago, and saw no difference. My car had 37k miles.

Atleast I know it's clean now, and I have a can of electrical cleaner in my garage, in case I dunoo.. decide to take my tv apart.

The thing you need to clean is the intake tube...it is locked into intake with the four T25 Torx screws you see on the back of the Air Filter box. You'll see a wire module plugged into it. If you unclip the airbox and remove the z-tube, you can easily move the back of the airbox to see the MAF sitting behind a mesh screen. There is a nylon strap holding the MAF housing to the MAF wire plug...I didn't cut it so you can only pivot the housing around.

So...I actually removed the torx screws to release the housing, pulled the MAF out of the housing, and blasted the sensor and the wire plugs. Some say not to do it...but I was careful. I believe you can clean it fairly well without removing the housing and spraying it through the mesh/housing.

3 MPG gains!!!! HP Gains????

FYI - I'm not sure about the HP gain claims (although it does feel like it pulls quicker)...BUT I am sure about the MPG gains. I was averaging 18mpg since I changed to the K&N filter/coupe middy...since cleaning the MAF sensor, I'm averaging 21+mpg over 4 days of driving.

If you're experiencing bad gas mileage...you at least have to try this!

I cleaned MAF/Throttle Body at the same time. Bought The CRC MAF cleaner at PEP Boys. Removed Z-Tube and MAF houseing from stock intake box and followed dierections from the CRC can. Re-installed, reset ECU and noticed more pep at the bottom end. 03 Coupe with 35k, I clean my K&N filters every 10k miles. I use these filters on all of my cars.
