Walbro install in Sedan. Perfect 52psi!!!

WOW! Finally, it looks like the G sedan has some thing good. I swapped in a Walbro GSS342 (thanks Sharif!!!) tonight. I was already aware that there were some differences on the sedan pump setup (thanks Phunk!). All the little places that usually get modded on the G and Z pump housings aren't there on the Sedan.....what the sedan does have seems to be a substantially better flowing regulator!!!

I had to make the usual trimmings of the pump tabs (and a couple others) to fit the pump in to the housing. When I reassembled it and started the car, the car had a perfect 52 psi fuel pressure at idle! I have onlt let it idle for a few minutes, but I am so excited that I don't have the 80psi problem that the coupes and Zs get when installing a walbro!!!

So, if you had 80psi, how much would your mpg go down by? Can the 80psi problem be corrected by adding just a AAM Fuel Pressure Regulator?

it provides more fuel, but if your engine doesn't need it( or can't use it).....it is not a worthy mod.

essentially, it is only needed if going turbo, SC, or N2O

Why wouldn't the sedan have the 80 psi problem as the coupe? It's the same fuel system.

it isn't the same fuel system!

the pump housing, regulator, etc are totally different.

You can geta look at the coupe/350Z pump housing on the turbonetics online instructions. Go take the sedan pump out of your tank and you'll be looking at something different!

They are different, but not totally different.

it looks the same until you start taiking it apart and then you realize that not much is the same. the biggest difference is the return flow off the regulator. I believe that is why we sedans guys don't have the really high fuel psi at idle when installing a bigger pump.
