If you want a famliy car that is just for work and home then get the maxima. If you get the G then it's one step up...Cost will be more for maintence....Etc..But it's a luxury car compared to the Maxima...Pick what fits you...

I'm single and living my life so I wanted a fast and sexy car...That might not fit if you are married and kids and you have other things to worry about...

maxima is on an altima platform, g35 is on the FM platform.

maxima is fwd, g35 is rwd.

I liked the 03 maximas way better, the new one just rides like a boat to me.

The versus game is a bad way of justifying a purchase. You need to decide for yourself as everyone's point of view will be different and all have their pro's and con's.

if you are buying a car to soley fix up, I dont know. The costs associated will be way more than economical for either car.

Also 15mpg is relative to how much you drive. If you drive 5k a year, 15mpg and 20mpg wont make a big difference. The difference is about 250$ over the year. And if you drive city you'll get more like 18mpg rater than 20+ in the g35.

It seems to me that you desire a change, maybe something cheaper to fix up than a 740? if nothing is wrong with the 740 just keep it, especially if you are 17.

im not only looking for something to fix i shouldnt have said it like that im looking for a car that is comfy for some roadtrips with my parents and stuff. also doesnt cost an arm and a leg to fix maintenance wise but also to be able to put performance parts which cost a grip for the 740. i basically daily drive to school then home then to the gym so like 5 miles a day... the 740 is getting older and more and more things are going wrong and the average maint. cost is about 1500 a year for those so its just not worth it especially when only being in high school.

I have a tendancy to go for rear wheel drive vehicles. I like the way they turn and drive.

The g35 is pretty cheap to maintain if you get an auto. The maxima is as well.

i am a previous 02 maxima owner...i had that car for about a year and loved everything about it except one thing... FWD!!!! As soon as i got my g35x i noticed no more torque steer...ahh what a relief...the g35 is much better looking car than the max in my opinion...and maitenence wise it's not that expensive...anyways good luck with your decision

i miss the amount of space i had in my altima and the gas mileage out of that car-- 30mpg on the highway w/ the VQ compared w/ the G's. i love the handling of the G but with all the work i did in the altima yes front wheel drive was jus the only other issue

The G35 should be a whole lot more fun to drive. Even if you don't care about that sort of thing, a good handling care is useful when avoiding obstacles. Power and mpg should be about the same since it's the same motor. Looks wise, I think most people agree the G35 looks better. I don't know if it's more expensive to maintain an Infiniti over a Nissan, but I pretty sure the Infiniti dealership will treat you better. You also get loaner cars which is a huge plus.

You are comparing a former Car of the Year to a car that hasn't won a single comparison since 1995 Seriously, the G35 has been one of the best cars in one of the most competitive segments since inception and the Maxima has been going downhill since the 4DSC moniker. Maxima has had quality problems also due to it being built in the Tennessee plant while the G35 is mostly trouble free.
