Z-Tube Question...

The Z-Tube is obviously a popular mod in the G35 community (and quite cheap), but I had one question about it. Is it worth buying that and simply a K&N filter? I know hp gains arent really a factor here, but will that combo make the car sound nice or do you really need the jwt pop charger to go along with the Z-Tube? I want to order something tonight for the car and I dont know what combo to do.

Here are my thought: After a month of owning my car i was foruming and came upon the Z-tube/ K&N Filter...at the time it seemed like a good combo and with my budget it was a no brainer.... i liked the combo alot and def had a noticible roar...after 5 months i wanted something more so i purchased the Stillen CAI....one word WOW!...what a difference from the K&N...anyways its def worth it if you want some sound...also the Injen CAI sounds sweet...this is my .02 cents

I've also ran across some comments on this board that the z-tube/popcharger combo slightly improves mileage. Any truth to this?

Hmm..interesting. The Z Tube and the Stillen definitely adds up $$$ wise but is probably the most fun. I'm 90% sure I dont want a regular CAI like INjen or AEM because here it floods and we get torrential rains for no reason with no notice!

I am a little worried about issues with the maf sensor getting dirty from the oiled filter, however w/ the JWT and Stillen. I read a couple threads on here that mentioned that.

And in terms of helping gas mileage, if it actually does, GREAT!!!! I think i'm getting about 17 mpg which is awful.

no sir. if anything, itll make it worse cause youll be stomping on that pedal every time just to hear that oh-so-sweet sound!

It may help your mpg a tiny bit but most of us will never let this happen. We like the noise more than the gains in some situations!

yup! hes right...the sound is so nice you just have to drive it hard.

So is the Pop Charger Crucial for that intoxicating sound or does the Z Tube and drop in FIlter do the job? Just seeing if it's worth saving $120 or not.

I've been told the JWT is crucial for sound, anybody disagree b4 i put in the order???

If all you want is sound (that's all the Stillen/JWT do) then why not remove the Power Duct cover and over radiator snorkel? It's free and VERY loud.

LOL well I am definitely getting the Z Tube as well, but not sure if to do stillen or jwt as well. What do you reccomend for gains then?

just get z tube with pop charger nuff said. Trust me I have it its loud as hell. Plus it makes a little psssss sound 2

Stillen CIA and Z-tube combo sounds fairly normal up to 4K rpm. At 4K WOT it comes alive and is a pleasant growl that you want to hear over and over. I've never had any problems with the airflow sensor from the oil of the K&N filter or from the rain.
