service engine light came on for 4 days... now gone

what's up with that ??
It came on Tuesday morning (steady, not flashing). I was thinking about going to Autozone to have them pull the code... Now it's gone. Wonder if the error is still there or not.

I thought once the SES light came on, it wouldn't go away until you reset the ECU... Weird !

Could be after you pumped your gas. If the gas cap isn't screwed properly then you get the SES light. They after you re-fuel and tighten the cap, it should go away after a little while.

while the light was gone, the code was still there. It was
P0505 Idle Control System Malfunction

The night before I got the SES light on, i did two things that I thought might have caused it:
1) pumped gas
2) after parking the car in my garage, i realized i needed to move the car 2 inches forward to close the door. So i started the engine, moved 2 inches forward, and shut the engine all within 5 seconds.

Apparently, the ECU thought my idle speed was too high and threw an error code, because I didn't let the car run long enough before shutting the engine... Another lesson to learn.

i hope you didn't reset it -- some G's need a revised throttle control sensor so just make an appointment to the dealer

Whatever caused the code appears to have cleared itself.......It happens sometimes.....and may have been caused by starting the car up for a short time.
If whatever caused it comes back, just take it in for a scan and a fix.
