Always in manumatic...wanted an MT but clutch driving in the amount of traffice I drive through, just didn't work for me.

I also have a finicky bad back - so if I had to push that clutch in during an episode..I'd be grounded...

I'm not as experienced as most people in this forum when it comes to cars and gear changing, tuning and what not..

But how can that possibly be an improvement? wouldn't it be better if my car downshifts when I want it to? instead of 2-3 seconds later?

I gather from you that it's an improvment, but you failed to explain to me how, you are probably right but I still need further details please.

You can downshift when you want to w/ mm mode. Also it can downshift faster than you can w/ a stick.

Jeff: That wasn't really my question, you should read my first post on this thread on page 2 first....

My question is about the difference in the MM between a 2003 5AT sedan and my 2005 sedan....

The 05+ autos have a superior shift program than the 03s. The upshifts are faster, the downshifts are faster (ie.. when you step on the gas xx amount) and of course the better rev matching.

I could tell right away when I drove the 05 as a loaner.

^^ True that. I had an 05x loaner and the auto was much better than mine, more responsive. I actually don't mind my tranny dying, so I can warranty it.

I do agree that the upshift and generally flooring it on my '05 is faster than the '03, but I found that downshifting on the '03 was more responsive.

That's the only thing, other than I do acknowledge that the '05 has a big improvment acceleration and upshift wise..
