Fuel Hose Recall

Anybody having this problem. Brought my 03 G35 sedan in for the recall and they told me I need a new exhaust system for a tune of $3000.00. Car is all stock, and I did live in Rhode Island for 2 years and when I moved to Florida it had very low miles, but that is insane. I have called customer service and they said they will not cover it. I thought the exhaust is stainless steel. So I guess when they get a little older they just fall apart. Time to trade it in, never going to buy an Infiniti again.

Strange title for the content.

If you need a new exhaust just get a Borla, Fast Intentions, or Stillen for 1/3 or less.

If you want to keep the stock, I'm sure one of the guys on here would sell you theirs. I threw mine away because I was moving and didn't want to deal with it.

As far as Infiniti, if you are out of warranty all the companies are going to tell you that. If you want to take it out on Infiniti, go ahead but most the other guys are worse. I would get a second opinion from another dealer. My dealer even gave me a new tranny with all my mods and a SC! Then they gave me a new wheel bearing even after I have installed springs, BBK, sways, 20's.

what's an exhaust system replacement have to do with a fuel hose recall???

shouldn't it be on infiniti to cough it up and replace it due to it being faulty if that is the case?

Then they need to give you a new one under warranty! Go to a different dealer.

As a matter of customer courtesy and as a matter of generating business, it's only common sense for the dealer to have its mechanics do a visual check out your car for common wear items while it's in the shop. My car went in for the same recall and the service writer told me that my tires were close to being worn out (which I already knew and was planning tire purchases) and told me that my serpentine belts were worn and cracked, which I did not know since I had not really paid too much attention to them lately.

If Florida has a Safety Inspection program like most other states, see what a certified inspection mechanic has to say about the topic.

If it turns out you really do need exhaust work, it would be very rare for the system to go bad at once. Maybe replacement sections or components are available at the local muffler/exhaust shop. Maybe there's just a small perforation or two that can be welded for a few $$.

Maybe he's out of warranty on time. An '03 could mean it was purchased as early as March of '02.

^^^

Both good points.

I still stand by my point that if the exhaust needs replacing and you are out of warranty it's not an Infiniti specific thing. I would expect the same from any manufacturer.

i bought the car 7/03 with 5000 miles on it. They gave me an extended warranty for 84 months or 100,000 but it does not cover exhaust

Never showed me but I put the car on stands and saw the bolts and they are very rusty. Makes no sense, looks like the bolts are steel and the exhaust is stainless
