First time service and free brake pad replacement.

Ok, so my G35 hit 3750 miles. Like a good G owner I brought my car in for the scheduled maintenance. Since this is my first time to the service department at an Infiniti dealer I wanted to share my experience.

Request service and problems reported:
1. Door rattling
2. Brakes Squeak
3. Regular 3750 maintenance
4. SES light.
5. Loaner.

Response and Solutions.

1. TSB kit ordered. Didn't have to convince anyone or fight with management. Should be recieving a postcard in the next few days when the kit arrives and they can install.
2. Replaced rear brake pads for free. Was told that there was some new "fix" that required brake pad replacement. I'm not certain if it was the new warranty that is described in this thread or not.
3. 29.99. Kind of expensive for an oil change, but when you combine wash, loaner and additional tid bits, its worhwhile.
4. Was told that this was nothing more than a reminder for service and required to be reset.
5. 3.98 for loaner. I saw about 10 loaners with the "South Motors Infiniti" loaner logo in the lot. Majority were 2003.5 G35's with 1 or 2 I30's. Shouldn't be a problem getting one as long as you make an appointment.

Overall it wasn't a bad experience. After reading this board for the last few months I thought I would face some problems getting warranty work on brakes and rattling. Some have reported no loaners and so on. Taking into account that I purchased the vehicle in Lighthouse point, South Motors service was great to deal with and treated me like I owned a luxury car, not a Nissan. Maybe, if I had some more serious problems I would've encountered more resistance on some things.

I know that not all dealers are the same but they all should aspire to be like this. Just my two cents.

Laterz.

That's what they charge here, it's $45, That $29.99 is a bargain including all the stuff, I used to pay $25 at the Ford Dealer, and had to wait for the car, plus the car needed a wash afterwards!

Re: First time service and free brake pad replacement.

There is a TSB for the rear brakes for squeeling that gets you a free pad replacement. The other problem.. premature wear.. is the one people are fighting.

If all you had done was the oil change, you may not have gotten the loaner car. I think it's all the warranty work that boosted the labor beyond the 2-hour mark to get you a loaner car.

How'd they do on the car wash? My dealership (Discover Infiniti) doesn't get the bugs off the front grill, and leaves half the brake dust on the front wheels. (I'm talking sparkly clean right next to nearly black with dust, with a sharp line between -- like a 2-yr-old did a hit-and-miss with a towel. Looks horrible.)

I bring my own oil with me for the dealer oil changes, never cost
more than $18. I will not let those "gorillas" wash my car, I would
prefer to do it myself.

Re: First time service and free brake pad replacement.

My first oil change at 3300 was free from the dealer

They normally charge 34.95. I got 4 more free due to my wife showing a little cleavage and asking nicely.

I was given a loaner even though I did not ask. They told me to go have some fun while I waited. Was not charged for this. Go infiniti of tampa! Was actually told I could get loaner for any scheduled service and they would try to accomodate me on last minute stuff

Only problem I have is that service writers change there like shoes on a princess. But overall they have been great..

They also told me brakes were doing great, expect 30K miles + from them

Have a healthy day!

Re: First time service and free brake pad replacement.

The car wash was...ok. They got the rims all nice and shiny but I still see a bit of film on the lower side of the fenders and the rear bumper. I usually wash mine once every week or two but its been raining the past few days down here and I really didnt want to waste the effort on washing it and then have it ruined by the weather. I rather let them do it =P.

As for the loaner, when I made the appointment I didnt mention the TSB work yet they said the loaner wasn't a problem. So I think I wouldv'e gotten the loaner even for the regular maintenance.

I don't think the SES light is a service reminder, I think it is their way of saying, "We don't know why your light came on".

Possibly. But it was kind of a coincidence that the light came on as soon as I approched 4kmiles. The car itself wasn't making any noises so I wasn't particularly worried.

Re: First time service and free brake pad replacement.

The lube, oil and filter change at my dealer (Niello in the Bay Area) was 46.97. There was no extra charge for the loaner, and they were VERY nice. However, I wonder, isn't $47 a litte steep for an oil change?
