How to use tire pressure monitor?

I'm puzzled. I think I have tire pressure monitor but I just don't know where to check them? Isn't suppose to be standard on all G35 with premium pkg? Where do is the display for tire pressure monitor?

I believe it's just a dummy light that, when lit, basically means "one of your tires is low.. go figure out which one for yourself." There's no digital readout.

it is just a dummy light. the car will beep and the light will come on, watch out for a drastic weather change. i had to take mine in and have the light reset. the change made the pressure light come on, with no flat.

Mine went off when it got a lot colder one morning, but my pressures were down about 4 pounds, I added air, and it went off shortly!

Re: How to use tire pressure monitor?

The problem with it is this:

All cars for '04 are required to have a tire pressure monitor system, as a Congressional knee-jerk reaction to the Firestone/Ford problems awhile back. The car companies lobbied the required tech down to a level that they claimed was necessary in order to be able to implement this quickly and cost effectively.. however, in reality it's cheap enough to be nearly useless.

Get a good tire pressure gauge and check your pressure every time you get gas. Notice your tires every time you get into the car to drive. Don't rely on the congressionally-mandated pressure monitors to save you. If you want tire pressure monitors that work, look at tirerack.com or other sources for an aftermarket system that has a digital readout of the actual pressure in each tire.

Re: How to use tire pressure monitor?

Thanks for the information. I guess its just useless crap that tire pressure monitor is. I thought its gonna display on the NAV as part of the vehicle information. I guess I'm mixing the $50,000 car with G35. Watching too much commercial. Anyway, now I know how it works. Its all good. I still love my G. Its the driving pleasure that counts, hehe.

For the price, it's a great car!

But yes, it does fall short on the list of luxuries when compared to cars that cost 15-20k more. That's just the way it works.

Re: How to use tire pressure monitor?

it shows the individual tire pressure readings in psi on the nav screen in the m45/q45/fx45. I think they should have at least given this as an option for the G.

That's exactly what happened to me this morning. I left the car outside last night and it was very cold throughout the night and this morning. Then when I drove to work today the tire pressure light came on and I had this really loud beeping. At first I was like "WTF?!?" but then I remembered the tire pressure light. Wish it wasn't so sensitive.
