I had it done and it is a nice little improvement. It's funny though, the muffler place said that no change will happen, but boy were they wrong. They were so sure of themselves too.

you guys just need to toss an HKS sport mufler on the end of that thing and you are set.

These three issues prompted me to remove the coupe midpipe. I will eventually buy the 05+ sedan midpipe which uses a 60% smaller resonator, has the two exhaust hangers, and is tuned for the variable capacity muffler used on the sedan.
this is exactly why i went with the 05 sedan middy. In addition to everything stated above it also has no drone in the lower rpms. Like I said it goes great with the HKS sport muffler simple mod, and i promise with the z tube, pop charger, 05 sedan middy, and hks sport mufler you will have significant performance enhancement similar to buying a full exhaust

The only items above that may contribute to better performance is the pop charger & the HKS, so not sure how similar it would be to a full exhaust....exhaust note wise - yes...but performance, not sure. I have the HKS myself and definitely don't feel any better performance, though the loss in low end torque that's been talked about on this forum.

Do you notice the loss in low end torque (due to the HKS not having the variable exhaust valve)? Not a big deal to me...the exhaust note of this muffler wins me over.

Yes. In fact when the G35 first came out (to the USA) a couple years ago, I recall seeing underbody photos of the car with dual exhaust outlets.
